DARIUS BURST CHRONICLE SAVIOURS (STEAM/PS4/Vita)
Re: DARIUS BURST CHRONICLE SAVIOURS (Windows/PS4/Vita)
All versions of the game will be released on January 16, as far as I know. The physical release is Vita-only.
Re: DARIUS BURST CHRONICLE SAVIOURS (Windows/PS4/Vita)
What happened to Winter 2015? Is that the physical release only and then the digital releases follow on January 2016?GSK wrote:All versions of the game will be released on January 16, as far as I know. The physical release is Vita-only.
Have they said anything about where the PC version will be available?
Re: DARIUS BURST CHRONICLE SAVIOURS (Windows/PS4/Vita)
January 16th sorta still counts as Winter 2015.

I mean, winter started this year... saying winter 2016 would've made it sound like next year.

Re: DARIUS BURST CHRONICLE SAVIOURS (Windows/PS4/Vita)
Not if you need to communicate with the outside world in the northern hemisphere which is experiencing "winter" at that time. There academic institutions refer to January-April as the Winter Semester; i.e. at this point in time Winter 2016 is coming up and Winter 2015 has long past. In terms of fiscal quarters the 'January 01 - March 31' quarter is the "Winter" ("July 01-September 30" in the southern hemisphere).trap15 wrote:January 16th sorta still counts as Winter 2015.
January 16, 2016 is next year from the perspective of October 22, 2015. The next winter in the northern hemisphere is 89 days long - 10 days fall in 2015 and 79 days in 2016; that is a 11/89 split so the next winter is "Winter 2016" (in the southern hemisphere all 95 days are in 2016).trap15 wrote:I mean, winter started this year... saying winter 2016 would've made it sound like next year.
It should be clear to anyone by now that "this winter" is typically used by companies in the northern hemisphere to create the appearance of a product release in the current year (to make it seem more relevant), while giving themselves an excuse to delay it as late as March of the next year without explanation. "We hope to release it in December 2015 but a 2016 release is more likely" is more honest but much less marketable.
That's why Cave's Mushihimesama - Winter 2015 announcement on August 31, 2015 was absolute nonsense.
- For the northern hemisphere Winter 2015 had already past.
- For the southern hemisphere there were only another 22 days left.
- Given the global customer base Steam may want to start to reign in their references to the seasons.

^ Where's the LE preorder? I'm interested to see AmiAmi's price.
Can we confirm: the LE only has an arrange album and the same Darius Odyssey book that was released before through the Darius store? Or are there some differences?

The book's not 100% identical, they added new illustrations and made unspecified changes to some of the old material.
Re: DARIUS BURST CHRONICLE SAVIOURS (Windows/PS4/Vita)
And let's not forget that this is not a classic LE, but just a product bundle. The game itself is identical to the standard edition and there's no box housing the items.

Where did this information come from? As far as I was aware Taito haven't shown or talked about LE, other than it's contents.Fudoh wrote:And let's not forget that this is not a classic LE, but just a product bundle. Re: DARIUS BURST CHRONICLE SAVIOURS (Windows/PS4/Vita)
same thing with all the (now defunct) Sega store, Ebten LEs and such. Darius Burst PSP was the same thing.

Will ebten or C-A ship overseas? Amiami has just the RE.Elixir wrote:Amiami won't have it, or any other store for that matter because it's ebten, bookwalker and chara-ani exclusive.
Minus tax and the price of the Vita game itself, it's roughly 2000 yen for the arrange soundtrack and 2000 yen for the artbook, which is exactly what the artbook originally retailed for in 2013 minus tax. You get what you pay for, basically.
Kinect? KIN NOT.
Re: DARIUS BURST CHRONICLE SAVIOURS (Windows/PS4/Vita)
Taito is simply the holder of the IP - DBCS is a Kadokawa Games (Chara-ani corporation) product (as was already indicated in the opening post).Rupert H wrote:As far as I was aware Taito haven't shown or talked about LE, other than it's contents.

Re: DARIUS BURST CHRONICLE SAVIOURS (Windows/PS4/Vita)
Based on the info, it's not worth looking at the LE for me because I already own the Darius Odyssey book, and the markup that's going to be charged by any middle man to get it from ebten makes it even less necessary.
It's a shame it's not a proper LE rather than a bundle deal, but I can live without the OST until the nigh-on guaranteed Taito improved standalone re-release later down the line.
Amiami's price is very good at £28 shipped - about the same as Dariusburst PSP cost me secondhand (maybe even cheaper) and when I bought Umihara Kawase they sent it to China real fast and customs fee free.
So pre order is in, roll on January. This is going to be a nice late Xmas present for me - I just need to abstain from playing it in the arcade until then to freshen it up.

Re: DARIUS BURST CHRONICLE SAVIOURS (Windows/PS4/Vita)
I'm just curious of the Vita version is going to be gimped in any way compared to the console/PC versions, especially when it comes to an arcade mode, cause doing the proper arcade aspect ratio on a Vita screen would be a bit cramped
Re: DARIUS BURST CHRONICLE SAVIOURS (Windows/PS4/Vita)
Mine, too, though I went with Play Asia. I've had good luck with them so far.Skykid wrote:So pre order is in, roll on January. This is going to be a nice late Xmas present for me - I just need to abstain from playing it in the arcade until then to freshen it up.
Consider yourself lucky to have played the arcade version. I've never had the opportunity here in the Detroit area of the US.

I'm not terribly worried, considering:drunkninja24 wrote:I'm just curious of the Vita version is going to be gimped in any way compared to the console/PC versions, especially when it comes to an arcade mode, cause doing the proper arcade aspect ratio on a Vita screen would be a bit cramped
1. The original game was a PSP game, and
2. The Vita version, from what I understand, is going to be 1P only
Re: DARIUS BURST CHRONICLE SAVIOURS (Windows/PS4/Vita)
Well it's been surprisingly common. We even had it in London Casino arcade before it closed, and everyone rinsed it. In China it's in one of the arcades down the road. I've 1cc'd every route now, so I only play it once a week or so - but I need to step away from it for a while or the Vita one is going to feel severely painful.boagman wrote: Consider yourself lucky to have played the arcade version. As the guy mentioned above, the aspect ratio and other elements will have to change... but perhaps that's a good thing in the same way PSP Burst was very much its own game.

It's been surprisingly common...outside of the US, I'd say. I've certainly noted, with no small amount of envy, the number of sightings this bad boy has had out and about. There *may* be one in the Chicago area, or there might have been at one time...it may not even be there anymore. I'm pretty sure there's one at an arcade in the southwest somewhere, but that's just not plausible for me to travel to, especially expense-wise.Skykid wrote:Well it's been surprisingly common. Having a physical release (which is the only kind I'll buy, with very few exceptions...Pom Pom Games releases are surprisingly good), especially for the Vita, is very gratifying for me. I finally get to have some of the experience that I've been missing.
Re: DARIUS BURST CHRONICLE SAVIOURS (Windows/PS4/Vita)
Well I even found one in Thailand. Totally weird. Played the shit out of it. It was a brand new cab, felt unused.

Re: DARIUS BURST CHRONICLE SAVIOURS (Windows/PS4/Vita)
In the two videos released so far, some of the in-game footage is shown in a 16:9 ratio with small letterbox bars. Those gameplay bits are also coincidentally all single-player, so wouldn't it be fairly safe to assume that's footage of the Vita version?
I'm hoping it's compatible with the PSTV. It should be since it wouldn't need touch controls but that's true for a lot of games that aren't compatible. Since other than this there's really nothing on the PS4 I want to play to make buying the console worth it, the Vita version on PSTV is the only way I'll get to play it.

Fair point. I own a bunch of Ebten editions and I'd never noticed that commonality.Fudoh wrote:same thing with all the (now defunct) Sega store, Ebten LEs and such. Darius Burst PSP was the same thing.
As for Taito only being the IP holder, sure, I know they're not developing, but they're still responsible for promoting it via Darius.co.jp. That site and the Taito stream at TGS have been the source of all info on the release so far.HydrogLox wrote: Taito is simply the holder of the IP - DBCS is a Kadokawa Games (Chara-ani corporation) product (as was already indicated in the opening post).
