Any reason you would want to go with the higher end models especially if a normal one would work?

I've read the picture isn't as good. Also, there might be input lag.

I have an HD Fury 1 and it has near 0 input lag. Don't have a cheap knockoff to compare it to, though. I don't mind giving the HD Fury guys money ,they work hard on catering to a small and shrinking CRT enthusiast market.

I tried a bunch of cheap converters (from my Brix i5 to a plasma display) and couldn't notice anything bad compared to a HDFury III I got.

Have any PVM-20L4 owners used the BKM-14L probe to setup the colour? I have tried to use the probe with my 20L4 but it doesn't seem to go through the calibration process automatically. I know the probe works as I used it with my BVM.
Unfortunately I don't have the manual for this PVM so can't be sure this works as it does on the BVM.

? - best way to remove permanent marker from a CRT?

I scored a couple of PVMs that were in use in a mobile sports truck. They have permanent marker on them for where the supers were to be overlaid. What can I remove them with that won't damage the CRT (they have a coating of some kind, no?)

Thanks!

I don't think PVM's have anti-glare coating. You can always test in a corner to see if anything rubs off.

Thanks! I'll try alcohol on one of them and see if anything beyond marker come off. =)

I bought wen to Frys this weekend and bought the cheapest converter I could find and hooked up the frameister to the monitor and it worked out great.
There wasnt any noticeable input lag that I could notice. Didn't really tested it too much but it worked good enough to satisfy my current needs.

I've got my laptop going via VGA into a vp50, then to the TV through HDMI. I want to set 50hz refresh for pal emulation but windows XP only shows 60hz refresh rates and up. I know the laptop can do 50hz on its own display, and the TV can accept it. The tv has no VGA port and the laptop has no HDMI. How do I get windows XP to allow me to set 50hz? It's an old Intel GMA mobile graphics chip. Thanks

Hi guys
Ok I've got an another question for my xrgb mini ^^

I've got color problem with my amiga 1200

I use a rgb cable (composite sync I suppose) with my xrgbmini (bought from retrocamibgcable 4-5 years ago),  and I've got a little problem : one(s) type of colour is coming and going (into workbench or in game) generaly the white goes grey, blue goes darker...The problem doesn't appear with the xrgb3

See at 1:38 (the colours changing)
https://youtu.be/E4RRWTTAoqk

EDIT : This problem doesn't affect the XRGB-3 (A1200) and the same cable used on an A500 with the xrgb mini give me perfect and stable colors

So does it come from the cable or (sync tip?) from the fm ?

TY

Hey guys, I found an embarrassing old post of mine (not the only one, I'm sure) - I've asked this before, but I'll put a spin on it this time...

Does anybody know of latency testing on scalers within HDTVs for different resolutions? i.e., testing the 480p, 720p, and 1080p latency of a 1080p set.

In part I have to ask this because the scaling in different sets turns out to often be quite different depending on manufacturer, and I'm not sure it's down to components (like the ADC) or settings (like sharpness) that I'd expect not to be laggy.

With the 720p Leo Bodnar out there, the 720p and 1080p comparison should be more doable.

I can't think of any monitor or TV over the last few years that would show more than a ms or two difference when it comes to handling various progressive resolutions. The processing path is usually identical, no matter what resolution you feed and scaling only requires a buffer of a few lines of resolution (if any - depending on the algorithm).

Ok
I tried many setup this afternoon (for the amiga 1200) direct rgb in / sync strike / xsync / xselect .... nothing have worked (image blending / colours "waving" / parasites waves in background of the images)
So after a last try I decide to hook it up to my extron rgbs matrix roughtly and....it worked fine !!
Perfect stable picture and no "waving" anymore
So don't know what happen or what not but this way the miga is colorfull and enjoyable at the best ^^

cfx wrote:Mine shows 50Hz because my monitor supports it and Windows reads that from the EDID, presumably.

Under Display Properties -> Settings tab -> Advanced -> Monitor tab, make sure "Hide modes that this monitor cannot display" and you should get them, as that should show everything the graphics chip and driver supports, and if you can get 50Hz on the laptop's screen then it supports it. Unless there is some limitation on 50Hz for analog VGA output.
That option was greyed out, (presumably the vp50 has no EDID?) but I was able to force 720x576@50 as a screenmode using dtdcalculator. It modifies the Intel driver with new modelines.

Was thinking about NES lately and I figured it might just be smart to get a cheap Famicom, RGB mod it, get the controller adapter so I can use NES stuff and get a flashcart.
I figure it will save me a lot of time modding an NES to suck less (pins, 10NES, audio expansion) while still being able to play more than 2 inches away.

Is that the best course of action?

If so, any advice on controller adapters? I only found this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Famicom-to-NES- ... SwpDdVMl~D and it looks overpriced and not so great.

Why not just get an av famicom? They're not much more expensive than the standard model if you just want the console. They only get more pricey when boxed.

No mic on the controller though!

Glad the flashcart covers the disc system stuff though.

I don't know, Zelda?

I just figure it's not something I can add on to an AV so why not have it just to have it?
