Raiden's been silent for awhile, nobody's sure what's up with it. On the PS4 a handful of homebrew shooters have made it, and Darius Burst is on the way, but not a heckuva lot else...

Yeah, I certainly wouldn't buy any of the new systems, purely for shmups. Nothing is set in stone.

sorry for sort of doing 2 topics in one but as you can tell i am a bit hyped about ps4 destiny edition. i know i should not even think about buying a new console right now, but as i already mentioned, good shmups would immediately sway me to it.

So to sum things up:
1. neither ubusana on ps4 or raiden on xbone is coming any time soon. Actually i hoped for any news here about Ubusana , seems not like it.
2. there is no worthy exclusive shmups for consoles.
3. i made a small research about upcoming /newer shmups. Interestingly , most will be on PC ()CAVE wink wink), and "PS4 exvlusives" are ALSO going to be on PC !!!! cool news. Have a go at my notebook ramblings. I am not including (Wii VC) here.

in other words: i need somebody to tell my brain to STFU and dont look at the PS4. The only reason i would buy it would be Bloodborne, but i am also reluctant about it as i havent even finished Dark Souls yet...

Those three games were announced for the Xbox One before it had become apparent how little the Japanese care for that console. In some weeks it sold less than 100 units, if i recall correctly. Note that in the one year and a half since the announcement we have seen zero gameplay for any of those games. I would not be surprised if they don't come out, or don't come out exclusively for the Xbone.

I've resisted buying a PS4 or an Xbox One, the only game on any of the new consoles I give a shit about is Bloodborne, but I'm not paying £300 for a game. I got MGSV on PS3 the other day for £10 and I'll pick up GTAV and that Platinum Transformers game when they're cheaper. This gen seems to have been a total flop so far, for me at least. Money's an issue at the minute since there are so few jobs, but not the issue preventing me from getting a new console.

That's what I thought too...until I started playing Bloodborne in April. Still playing it and looking forward to the DLC.
All the games you mentioned play much better on current gen btw.

I wouldn't hold your breath. Japanese gaming companies are all either dead or dying. I wouldn't expect any shmups to actually be released on modern platforms regardless of what was announced or "promised" within the last year. Xbox 0ne is the biggest flop in the history of Japanese gaming, don't expect anything to show up for that bomb.

Bloodborne is great. And it has an expansion in November. Dark Souls III comes out in April.

I bought a PS4, primarily for Bloodborne. If you enjoy Dark Souls, you'll probably like it.

They also just let their fans make their PC ports palatable instead of doing it themselves.

That's certainly the case with Dark Souls 1. I've never played the Dark Souls 2 port.
