Quick question on the SATURN av pinout
can somebody confirm 100% wether this pinout
http://members.optusnet.com.au/eviltim/ ... saturn.png
is right or this one:
http://www.gamesx.com/grafx/satpin.jpg
Difference between the two is the sound wiring. Is Pin 2 left or right audio ?

Re: Quick question on the SATURN av pinout
If this can be believed pin 1 is already different for PAL vs NTSC. So while a mistake in one of the diagrams is more likely it could also represent a PAL/NTSC variation i.e.:
(My NTSC-J Saturns are in the closet right now ...)

Re: Quick question on the SATURN av pinout
I know, the sync out on NTSC units is replaced by a power source on PAL units.
Still, I really need some confirmation for the audio wiring. Timm is about the only source for 2 = L Audio, while almost all other sources say 2 = R Audio, but then again this is likely based on Lawrence's material and he had other errors on his pinouts that spread like bush fire on the net.

Re: Quick question on the SATURN av pinout
The gamesx one is bogus.
Red/right audio on my S-video NTSC-J Saturn AV cable is wired to pin 3 while White/left audio is wired to pin 2.
Verified the wiring of the AV cable with Cars "Moving in Stereo". Guitar first appears on the right while vocals first appear on the left.

Re: Quick question on the SATURN av pinout
There was a way to get a clean/stable sync on PAL Saturns, was there ?
(Both PAL saturns I own have that crappy wavy/shaky output...)
Maybe by wiring that minidin pin 8 carrying composite to something else inside the Saturn ?

Re: Quick question on the SATURN av pinout
I had corrected Lawrence's pinout Wiki page back in 2006 and he decided to revert it with a note:
I've updated the Wiki page. Lets see how long it takes Lawrence to mess up the page again!
That someone is me!Someone once said: The L and R audio assignments have been swapped, as this info has been incorrect for n years…

Re: Quick question on the SATURN av pinout
Pretty sure there was a way to get clean sync on an EU Saturn. I haven't tried it myself though. But take note that the sync pin on US/JAP Saturns is 9V on an EU. If you use a c.sync cable on one you could potentially damage your TV or equipment.Xyga wrote:There was a way to get a clean/stable sync on PAL Saturns, was there ?

Re: Quick question on the SATURN av pinout
I'll try with pin 10 as Fudoh suggested, just need to make sure I have a cable wired for it or modify one.
Otherwise is there really no information about where I could find Sync on the Saturn' pcb (pal 2) ?
I find strange that there isn't more info on that since so many of those have a wavy/distorted signal...

Wire it up and test with a cleaning CD.
