Tate games on handhelds?
Other than PSX tate games played emulated on PSP or Vita.
I can't get enough of the GBA Panel de Pon in all its "Vertical" mode glory and so I am wondering if there are any more tate games not ported from arcade machines (I know about Sonic Wings Special, but you'd think on handhelds - more game designers would go there).

Around 30% of the WonderSwan's library is vertical.

<S.Yagawa> I like the challenge of "doing the impossible" with older hardware, and pushing it as far as it can go.

What have Hudson Soft been up to lately? Presumably mobile games, but any good?

I heard they were dissolved by Konami and some former employees are in ND Cube, which mostly works on the latest Mario Party games.Obiwanshinobi wrote:What have been Hudson Soft up to lately? Presumably mobile games, but any good?
As far tate games on handhelds, Hotel Dusk, Ninja Gaiden, and Planet Puzzle League on DS all use the vertical mode.

I recall Klax on the Lynx to be tate.

And it rocks, and still does.broken harbour wrote:I recall Klax on the Lynx to be tate.
Re: Tate games on handhelds?
There are quite a few DS games that are played with the system held vertically in "book orientation"; they're mostly visual novels or other casual games without a heavy action element but there are a few exceptions: Ninja Gaiden Dragon Sword, Planet Puzzle League, etc. M2's Namco/Konami arcade compilations also include a tate option for many of the games.
There are also games that treat the dual screens as one big monitor with a dead zone in the middle, like Contra 4, Yoshi's Island DS and Space Invaders Extreme.

Hudson's deader than dead. Konami ate them.Obiwanshinobi wrote:What have Hudson Soft been up to lately? Presumably mobile games, but any good?

A few of the PSP arcade compilations offer TATE options.
Raiden on the Lynx is in a forced TATE mode like Klax.

Not bad, depends on the game. The problem is to use the analog as a button (or 2)Leandro wrote:how is the control on these tated psp games? is it awkward?
