NES PPUs

Post by tighecg »

so I'm doing a NESRGB mod on my toploader and I broke the PPU. I have a spare toaster. Can I take the PPU out of the toaster and put it in my toploader? If I can will there be any differences?

thanks

Yes you can. No, there are no differences.

What did you do to that PPU? Did you fry it or did you rip a leg off? If the latter maybe it's salvageable by drilling the package and soldering to that.

Even if you rip off a leg there should still a tiny piece of metal exposed where it exits the chip housing. You can most likely solder a wire to that and salvage the chip. If you cannot manage it yourself then consider passing that off to someone who can rather than just tossing it in the rubbish.
