He holds strong opinions, but he isn't pig-headed. And I don't recall Brandon ever saying shit like "the proper name is Yossy Island." That was truly one of Recap's finest moments.

Also, check IC's front page. The top news post is Recap, and sure enough he bitches about 3D. The one below that is also from him, though the graphics bitching there isn't quite as bad.

Bwahahahaha!

Of course, the reality is that when he sees nothing but his name, he thinks it means that he's big and important. I doubt he gets that his name is the only one there because nobody else gives a shit.

Also, when I went to his forum, all of the replies were him as well. He creates threads on various topics and then talks to himself about them.

Sad thing is, if he ever said that, it would be completely hypothetical.

If Recap spent even a fraction of the time that he spends harping about resolutions on actually playing games, he would no doubt be one of the West's best players.

I don't post at NG, but TNL ran him out a loooooong time ago. They didn't put up with any of his crap.

I really enjoyed his Insert Credit post on Spectral vs. Generation. Not only did he complain about the resolution of the PS2 version being "not tolerable" but he also mentioned the screenshots on the page he links to have been "innappropriately captured".

If you were active at TNL a while back, you remember his whole "Yossy Island" fiasco, right?

THAT was gold.

Upskirt photos are "inappropriately captured".

:P

Still, it's classic enough that it really deserves repeating.

And yeah, Recap doesn't post on TNL and hasn't for a while, though he might still pop up on occasion for a reply or two before slinking away again. He was disliked by pretty much everyone there, and they can be brutal to people they don't like. He was at least partially a catalyst for the creation of the phrase "faggot-chan" over there. Shmups was nice to him by comparison.

Well, sometimes he said what I want to say. :o

Actually I mostly agree with what he said.

Rarely seem him around these days... May be you guys are too hursh on him. :x
That's the problem. He is a very intelligent and knowledgable gamer. But unless you agree with him 100%, it is impossible to converse with him and he enjoyed lording his knowledge over others. He was by far, one of the least friendly persons we have had here. And when folks who were just as informed about hardware, filtering, emulation ect. would post something that contradicted what he said, he would absolutely refuse to back down no matter the evidence. He was waaaaay more "harsh" and unyielding than anyone who disliked him.

I'm not proud of the way I lost my temper with him on one occasion, but the forum is better off without his ego. edit: ..... but he definitely seemed to enjoy needling people here (part of the old click-stick and other forums vs. Shmups bias probably)

You oughta see some of the PMs bloodflowers sent me back when mods and admin were trying to decide whether or not to ban him. James tried to politely reason with him endlessly practically begging him to lighten up a bit. The man has no idea of the concept "the art of conversation." He literally told James "I don't care, ban me." Then not too long after that little situation he started harassing folks in another thread so he got what he wanted. End of story. If people want to ask him a question in english they can always go to insertcredit or they can go to his Postback board.

Hardly. On any occasion that there's a filtered or upscanned screenshot posted anywhere on the web, he is fully ready to invade and act like a complete dillhole until everyone gets tired of his ass and lets him have the last word. Until the next time some member of their forum has the unmitigated gall to post a filtered screen. The only reason he wasn't continuously a complete schmendrick at Click Stick's place was because they all bought his "Lord of Gaming Knowledge" rap (probably because he likes Cave) and he had them eating right out of the palm of his hand. There's never a problem when everyone agrees with Recap.

I stand corrected. But that just goes to show why he didn't like us, we weren't his personal "yes man" fan club as it was for him on click's place.

No. He is a very knowledgable gamer, but he is not a very intelligent one. The total lapses of common sense and frequent misapplication of the knowledge he does have indicate to me that beyond his somewhat encyclopedic knowledge, there's not much there.

Yes, knowledgable would be a better word. It's one thing to have all of the Trek ship schematics memorized but if you are mean to your fellow trekkers.... :P

No. He is very knowledgeable about games. I never saw anything in any of his posts to suggest that he was an actual gamer.

I believe the proper nomenclature is "trekkies."

Well, more accurately it's "fat guys with neckbeards and pungent aromas" but I think they prefer "trekkies."

LOL @ "pungent aromas."

Reminds me of the MST3K episode Werewolf. There is this crazy guy with a scraggily beard and Mike says something like "Hmmm, I forgot to take my lavendar bath today."

Recap was still involved in arguments over at the C-S forum - it's just that he was tolerated over there more often than not. I think people over there were more willing to focus on the news and ignore whatever crap he was going on about before he could really run with it. That's my experience, anyway - I probably shouldn't speak for the opinions of others who frequented the board.

I appreciate his pursuit of knowledge, but the man is a plague. The only import-focused forums I haven't seen him on are very small or private.

UPDATE:

For his latest news post at IC, he edited and re-uploaded official Cave screenshots of a game that hasn't been released to make them "more realistic." He also insists that "we" don't like digital filtering on screenshots (he, of course, then filters the image to add scanlines).

I love this guy.

Some good stuff today. Before reading, please bear in mind that dcharlie is normally the nicest most levelheaded and well spoken individual one is likely to ever meet. Both online and off. Our little friend just brings out the best in everyone I guess. Okay, here it go:

Could someone post a link to the Yossy Island incident? I quit posting on TNL like, a year ago (I can only maintain posting on 5 boards at a time, though in retrospect I shoulda ditched Neo-Geo.com).

Anyways, I would love to see this. :D

I can't search TNL :( I dunno why... Anyway, I think I was on Recap's side for most of that one. If I bought it when it came out in Japan and it said "Yossy Island" on the box, I'd call it "Yossy Island". There's nothing wrong with that. I call Srap Happy Rhythm Busters Srap Happy Rhythm Busters and nobody cries.

In fact I even take it back when I said that Recap was the biggest douchebag online, ever. Thinking back to my TNL days, there's a veritable horde of dipfucks that I think still actively post over there that are far far worse than Recap could ever dream of being.

Wait a sec, I remember he scoffed at people who spelled Sengoku Blade as "Sengoku Blaede" as the spine suggested. Seems contradictory in this case...
