Cave x Steam teaser!
Re: Cave x Steam teaser!
Yes, I suppose it's sensible to think that it will be Mushihimesama HD, since they are porting the XBOX 360 versions (or that's what I've heard). Do you know if they will change its name to "Bug Princess" or will we have a Japanese version with the original name and a western version with the translated title?
Re: Cave x Steam teaser!
Yeah they are gonna port the 360 HD version to cut costs. I can almost bet it won't be called "Bug Princess", because it just sounds really dumb. Degica would most likely advise them not to do it.

Re: Cave x Steam teaser!
Well, they have officially anounced it as "Mushihimesama" so I think it will stay like that.Elaphe wrote:Do you know if they will change its name to "Bug Princess" or will we have a Japanese version with the original name and a western version with the translated title?

Re: Cave x Steam teaser!
In my opinion, no game title should ever be translated. In Spanish it would sound even worse: "La princesa de los bichos".

But, is it the HD version or the normal version?????

Re: Cave x Steam teaser!
Got a weird reply from Cave about something they Tweeted, earlier.
I just Tweeted that I recognised some of the symbols.
You can clearly see a Masonic square and compass among other occult symbols, not least the inverted pentagram.

Too small.
Please, post an enlarged version, if possible.

I think the basic gist of their reply is: "We didn't mean to offend anyone. No one cares about the symbols in Japan, but we should probably change it before a global release, so as not to upset sensitive folks in other countries."
Re: Cave x Steam teaser!
Is that art from their last mobile game?

Does anyone really get upset about pentagrams or masonic symbols nowadays?

Maybe CAVE could use Waifu2x to upscale their art to HD if they don't want to recreate assets in ever higher resolution. The algorithm works pretty well for art without post-processing and eventual deficiencies could be corrected by hand.

lmao @ 3million, behave yourself CAVE.
Re: Cave x Steam teaser!
I don't know how much an investment developping a new title represents, but porting one existing title to Steam and PS4 would require a $1M budget !?DestroyTheCore wrote:

Re: Cave x Steam teaser!
Would it really require that much money to port to Steam? Goodness... maybe I just have no clue about what kind of monetary backing it takes to port a game to Steam from the likes of Cave, but $300,000-$500,000 seems like a huge amount.DestroyTheCore wrote:
Nonetheless, I'm really looking forward to Cave games being ported to Steam, along with more shmups in general.

Yeaaah someone is not doing their Yen -> Dollars conversion right...

Re: Cave x Steam teaser!
300-500k for a PC port (whether it's only Steam or other stores as well is irrelevant, as neither of them come with any costly requirements, as far as I know) sounds like a lot from what I've heard about porting costs over the years. Honestly not sure what they'd spend that on if they already have a 360 version running.
3 million for a new game seems like they expect to indulge in Double Fine level wastefulness, but then again I've little to no idea how a stg development process works exactly. Doesn't matter anyway, since they won't get that much.
