Dead Seibu SPI motherboard (raiden fighters) *FIXED!*
Hello!
I have a non responsive raiden fighters 1 cart+mobo.
All it gives me is a black screen, no text or nothing just black.
The mobo is rev 2.1 so i am not sure if it's needed to set any jumper to change cart? I doubt it's the cart, but I'll check if I can find another mobo to try the cart with.
I know since before that these are a bit wonky if they loose power in the startup but if it lost the region code in the flash it should at least give me a message? Or error?
The only jumper I have is called jp121.
Thanks for your time!

Re: Dead raiden fighters 1 :(
Update: tried with another cart, nothing. Tried the original cart from the nonworking with a working mobo = CRC error.
I will dump the cart today, and verify the roms, just in case. But then I guess I have to dump the flash on the mobo containing the region... wonder if I have any adapter for it or is there any other way?
Should it really give me a black screen if the modo looses its region code in the flash?
UPDATE2: -REMOVED- since I am retarded. I missunderstood the manual. (its was about JP121, but Its indeed for the audio, not cart)

Re: Dead raiden fighters 1 :(
Depending of the mobo rev. you have, according to seibuspi Mame driver (http://git.redump.net/mame/tree/src/mam ... seibuspi.c) (I don't own the game), JP121 is used to set mono/stereo sound as you said above, and it's used when swapping game board cart in the late rev.
You can't only swap the flashs/eproms between games, each game cart has its own protection.

Yeah, I didn't swap any eprom/flash, I swapped the whole cart just to check if the mobo can read the region stored in the cart. So the cart seems fine but the motherboard ain't doing anything :/.
Can someone who has the newest rev 2.1 motherboard just start it with no cart inserted, just to see if I am supposed to get anything on screen? Would be nice to know if I am to expect any text like "no cartridge inserted" or something like that when the mobo has no game connected.
To reflashed the motherboard I need to buy a tsop48 adapter and I would like to avoid doing that incase it's another fault. That's why I would like tO know how a working 2.1 motherboard behaves without cart inserted.

found a bunch of loose pins at U0154. Will resolder those and give it another shot!

Re: Dead raiden fighters 1 :(
hmm.. I dumped the cart to see wich region it was, but I dont understand why there are so many mixed regions?
and the Region byte (last one in file 1) is 8C.
Please see the attached pic below
http://1drv.ms/1N0nCz2
by the way, is there any way to link pictures from onedrive directly so they show in the post? I dont like that I can only paste a link.. no biggie
but its so much better if the picture could show in the post :/
Anyway, thanks for reading! And please give me your thoughts on the region mash
(the cart and eprom labels are untouched)

When you're in your gallery, hit the button "show original" (or similar) on the top and copy the url you get after that.

In fact, some sets are merged, that's the reason you have a few common roms in yours.
You should check in seibuspi Mame driver linked above which set is (nearly) matching yours.

The following table shows all country codes we know so far:
Japan Seibu Kaihatsu 01
USA Fabtek 10
Asia The Metrotainment Network 22
Asia Dream Island 24
Europe German Tuning Licensee 80
Switzerland Seibu Kaihatsu 9C
Australia Seibu Kaihatsu 9E
unknown Seibu Kaihatsu BE
mine is none of those, but its said to be 22 licences in total.

Re: Dead Seibu SPI motherboard (raiden fighters) :(
To avoid an error message, is there a tip to do to reset/reinitialize when installing another region ?
Btw, you should send your dump to Haze (since he's member in jammaplus, it's easier to PM him there) or add it yourself to Mame via http://git.redump.net/mame/ in seibuspi driver.

Great if you want to get this added to MAME, please snap a photo of the game PCB with EPROMs and include all the ROMs from the dump.bytestorm wrote:It's working now!

I can get it added as well, just PM me with a link to the archive and tell me what name you want as credit!
