AV FAMICOM | NES adapter
Hello guys,
I just got an AV Famicom modded with the NESRGB from Tim.
Most of my games are NES games (PAL and US), so I would need a NES-Famicom pin adapter
Any difference between them? Where would you reccommend to get one?
Thanks!

I got one from Stone Age Gamer a few years back that works. Those long NES games on top of a converter sticking up backwards on an AV Famicom sure do look hideous though.

Actually the ones from SAG have issues on an AV Fami and are pretty poor quality at that. There's a few I've seen on eBay that don't have any major compatibility problems and have the cart label facing the front.kamiboy wrote:I got one from Stone Age Gamer a few years back that works.

Yeah I got mine from eBay and the label faces forward. Works well, still looks pretty horrible. Also had to relocate my Famicom as it's about 6 feet tall with a NES cartridge perched on top of the converter. Also the slightest wobble/vibration will lock the game up instantly. If you've got the cash it's better to own a console from each region rather than a converter if you ask me.ApolloBoy wrote:Actually the ones from SAG have issues on an AV Fami and are pretty poor quality at that. Actually, ever since investing in an Ever Drive I've stopped playing actual physical copies of games, even if I own them.
Too much of a hassle to find and unearth them from whichever box I've buried them into. Of course, the added ugliness of playing NES cart on my AV Famicom only further those motivations.
Before the ED I too was considering getting a toploader in addition to my AV Famicom just for playing NES carts.

These work well
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Shielded-72-pin ... 33a65a21f4
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Adaptor-Convert ... 33a640b8de
I'd pay the extra amount of the first one and get a case with it, for stability.

Re: AV FAMICOM | NES adapter
Ok guys I got the black one!
Very quick shipping, It works great but...
Unfortunately it doesn't work with Castlevania 3 (MMC5)
Does anyone know an adaptor that works with Castlevania 3?

You'll have to open it and mod it. 2 trace cuts and 2 wires. Scroll down in the link to see a picture of the mod

Can you open this one or you have to break it apart?

The adapter has two screws behind the rear sticker.Sir Arthur ahf wrote:Can you open this one or you have to break it apart?

I would get the one with the cloth ribbon attached to it. That way it won't get stuck In Your friends non top loader NES. The ones that don't have a ribbon will get stuck in toasters.

I think you misread the topic, he was looking to play NES games on his Famicom, not the other way around.Hoagtech wrote:I would get the one with the cloth ribbon attached to it. Ahh yes. pardon my light browsing. A side question though? Are there limitations on US games on famicom consoles like there are on famicom games on NES ( like limited sound channels? ) just curiousmuckyfingers wrote:I think you misread the topic, he was looking to play NES games on his Famicom, not the other way around.Hoagtech wrote:I would get the one with the cloth ribbon attached to it. Re: AV FAMICOM | NES adapter
I don't think so, other than the NES Zapper doesn't work on the Famicom (original Famicom doesn't have the controller port for it; the AV Famicom has the controller port but needs a 2-wire modification to work with the NES Zapper). Also there are compatibility issues with the Four Score vs. Famicom 4-player adapter, and probably the PowerPad as well.Hoagtech wrote:Ahh yes. pardon my light browsing. A side question though?
