Yeah it can be taken either way. Also why is that person asking about the console which is DEAD IN JAPAN?

For what its worth I got the same from their response. I don't think any company would position themselves as "if it fails here then maybe there". Sounds like the stock answer of "if it does well here then maybe there".

I don't think that was their intent. Why would they license a game to a publisher and then encourage people to not buy it?

I think "depends on steam sales" is a polite way of saying "we have no plans, but that can change if the Steam version sells like mad".

Now while this is true, I have a question for people here:

Has anyone here had any experience with said media dying? I have not, and I've had some CD's for 25 years and they still work.

I don't mind digital media, but I do mind paying more than $20 for it. If it is more than that I better be able to hold it in my hand.

Oh, you're right, for a moment I forgot they're japanese. Those people never say " no" directly.

Anyway, I couldn't care less for more expensive physical releases we have to import. I love Steam.

My guess is that if they release a third game after Futari, it would be Akai Katana. I'm really sad Ketsui, Progear and EspRaDe are off the table due to rights issues.

It depends on quality, but yeah... I've had an Incubus CD which lost quality due to overuse. I know people who has experienced the same issues too.

Just wait for the big Steam sales...

Just recently lost the use of an NTSC-U/C PS2 Gradius V (blue-cdrom) disc - the damn thing still looks pristine. And it is not the console laser's fault - another barely used PS2, a PS2BC PS3 and a laptop optical drive all have trouble reading the disc. Now mind you I bought it used so I don't know its full history. But I also had an Xbox MechAssault disc go bad on me - and that may be connected to the fact that it was stored in a semi-transparent disc holder that was exposed to sunlight for a number of years (in hindsight foolish, but it happened).

Its unlikely that Futari would be released right after "Mushihinesama HD" - on the surface (which is important to most Steam customers) Futari would come across as "just more of the same". The fact that it had a region-free Xbox 360 release wouldn't help it in Cave's eyes either. Akai Katana has a similar problem as it had an Xbox 360 release in all regions (still keep running across the occasional copy in the bargain bins).

Sounds like they have no choice but to make HD DoDonPachi with six arrange modes, including the Campaign version.

CAVE itself on their Facebook page, check a couple of pages back on this thread. Somebody posted screenshots of that IIRC. Ketsui is on 5pb's hands, Progear on Capcom's and EspRaDe... I don't remember atm. They basically said that in order to release those, they would have to port the games directly from the arcade PCB, which would cost a shit load of money. That's why they will be sticking to x360 releases for now.

E.S.P. Ra.De. is published by ATLUS, so is DoDonpachi, Guwange and Dangun Feveron.

The 360 release of Guwange lists CAVE as the publisher so rights weren't a problem there. They said on their facebook that they have the rights to port Ketsui directly from PCB. They also responded to that PC Gamer article saying their choices are 'high hurdles' for them. Their choices included Ketsui, ESP Ra.De. and DDP.

Difficult and unlikely, sure. Not off the table.

I really doubt the disc is bad, it's likely the consoles. I have like 10 PS2s and Gradius V only runs reliably on the slim models. Nearly all of my fat models have problems running it. A lot of fat PS2 will play DVD games perfectly and fail to run CD games (the blue disc games).

Gradius V is infamously loud and hard on PS2 drives, yep. As are blue discs in general, due to their higher RPM. Rubber disc platter gets smooth = no traction = U be FUCKED.

But help is at hand! How 2 play Shattered Soldier or ICO or Gradius V or other blue discs.

Storage is everything with media in general. Keep 'em vertical, dry and in the dark. I've seen some hideously bronzed Xbox (OG) discs back home in the tropics, but never had it happen to any of my own.

The consoles have no problems with other PS2 blue-cdrom discs like Gradius III/IV, Raiden III, Silpheed: Lost Planet ... and a second/separate Gradius V disc.

And being a CD-ROM you can get a directory listing of the disc - a less than a year old optical drive failed to read the disc several times - and was always dead-slow to read it when it finally did succeed.

Yes we noticed, you know, you're a week or so late into it. And judging by screenshots, its looks like 360 assets and such, unless there's an option to play them in the original graphics or 360/HD type graphics.

It's gonna be the Low Definition version with less pixels than the arcade version. This is in retaliation for not having the good sense to be born Japanese.
