I just happened to come across fantastic RGB a few months ago. I picked up a CSYNC shielded cable for my SNES from retro_console_accessories on eBay. I also picked up a sync on luma cable for my Paine from the same seller. I am using the following SCART to HDMI cable:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00MUNIVR ... ref=plSrch
Now both my SNES and NES RGB work great directly hooked up to the scaler. No problems what so ever. Crystal clear. The same goes for my psone. Now with plans of getting more of my consoles hooked up I ordered a MadCatz SCART switch from the UK. I spent weeks researching what the best switch would be. Every review raved of its quality and lack of any noise or interference in the image. This is where I'm having troubles. With both the psone and SNES/NES (I share the same cable for the two) hooked up to the switch, I'm getting noise/interference in the picture. Best way I can describe it is a band about 3" high that extends across the entire screen. It looks fuzzy, almost like light static in the background. Now this band starts at the top of the screen and than slowly travels to the bottom. Then it starts all over at the top.
I've asked and searched around and can't find a reason as to why this is happening, or more importantly how to resolve it. I really don't want to forgo the switch and have to constantly plug/unplug cables. Does anyone have any explanation for this or any way to resolve it. It's killing me how great the image is without the switch, and the drop in quality with it. Would really appreciate some help with this. I'm clueless with SCART.

Re: SCART Switch troubles-please help
I've already posted this in the NESRGB thread as I didn't see this one.
Did you get the Mad Catz switch new from Amazon by any chance? I notice they suddenly have them in stock. I've been looking for another one for a while and nearly placed an order but noticed some recent bad reviews. In the pics they are also slightly differently coloured to mine which made me concerned that they weren't genuine.
I know this doesn't help you with your issue but the old one I have here works perfectly with my RGB modded NES (and all other consoles) with no noticable degradation of image quality. In fact I've got it daisy chained through another switch (Silverscreen Trilogy) and still no issues.

Well that's a bummer then. I did get it from Amazon UK. Packaging looked to be genuine but I really have no idea for sure. Would you mind sending me a picture of yours so I can compare? I'll P.M. My email address.

I can certainly do that although I'm sure yours is genuine coming from Amazon and the colour differnces are just subtle manufacturing changes.
I wonder where this stock came from as I can't imagine Mad Catz has produced these switches in a decade now.

Re: SCART Switch troubles-please help
I did thanks. Sent an email back. The switches look identical. Only difference is mine has a 2003 date on the bottom while yours had a 2005 date. Really no clue, but maybe there was a minor hardware or manufacturing difference. I've seen very hit or miss reviews on the switch. Some users say there's no interference at all, while others say it's garbage with tons of interference.
Anyone else have any ideas of anything to try to clean up the interference?

Re: SCART Switch troubles-please help
I've accidentally found a workaround in several different situations.
I have no scientific answer for it.
Try turning one other console at the same time.
I have all original cables. 3rd party cables usually suck.
But if I want to have my ps or saturn look right, I have to turn on my super famicom at the same time. Not sure why the hell it is, but the differnce is mind blowing.
Somehow, the super Famicom displays perfectly with the GC scart cable.

Thanks for the suggestion. I gave it a shot and it unfortunately didn't change anything for me. The only way to resolve the interference in my SNES or NES is to completely unplug the SCART cable for my psone from the SCART switch.
