It's like you guys are on a crusade to ask them about all the games that are never going to happen.

That means they can't bring Progear and DDP from steam without permission, sounds fuck.

Surely 5pb won't mind if they steal a little code to make things quicker?

Again, guys, why are you not asking for the games that play like shit in mame? Ketsui has 2 decent ports and runs alright in mame no? Progear runs fine? Why is no one asking for something like Ibara with a shit port and ball crushingly horrible mame support? Or Ibara Kuro? Or Ketsuipachi ? !

Someone with a FB account should at least ask about Kuro seeing as there's no port, everyone and their grandmother wants to play it.

I don't think there's a ton of people clamoring for Kuro in itself. Ibara + Kuro double pack, though, I'd be pretty happy to see.

Same goes for ESPrade really. But if CAVE appended some of this old stuff with new arrange modes and a visual/audio overhaul that would still make them welcome. I just doubt they will. I have a feeling their resources are basically running on a single remaining battery charge, currently blinking, and that's just enough to pop out carbon ports of existing work.

But if they don't fix the input lag on SDOJ I think we should pass out pitchforks and torches and march on the HQ.

Between our money, the fact they can update it and our unstoppable nagging and whining I can't see how this won't turn out pretty good. Just need real arcade controls and someone to minimize the shit out of the input lag. Let's start there. I hate a D-Pad for shmups and you keyboard people have something wrong with you.

"I can't break out of my comfort zone" doesn't mean "people who are comfortable with something else have something wrong with them".

Keyboard has the lowest travel time for each directional input, tactile feedback that I personally prefer, the ability to hold two opposite directional keys at once to repeatedly press one of them for precise zigzag motion, the least hand movement and thus the least strain, and of course affordability.

Meanwhile an arcade stick has... uhhh... ummm... well... that retro feel?

Edit: I should add that keyboard can also be used for productive purposes and more than just two genres of video games, making a good keyboard a far better investment.

It has the word arcade in it.

Around here, the quality of "ever having been in an arcade" provides an x10 multiplier to perceived quality.

Anything that's not a D-Pad feels gross to me. Keyboard and sticks included.

I play FPS's with a snes controller, dpad in one hand and mouse in the other.

omg you suck, and have never experienced the pcbs, or if you did you didn't pay any attention.

The knarled fingers in a keyboard is totally unnautural to a lot of people, should not be hard to understand. And furthermore why the hell would I want to click 2 keys on a keyboard instead of pressing a joystick in that direction? Probably because you keyboard people are freaks.

So your defense is "muh arcade coolness that must be experienced to be believed". Okay. If you've got anything legit I'd love to hear it.

Oh you edited the post before I posted...
knarled
You must use a really small keyboard if your fingers knot up. Weird.

No pretty much everyone has done some office work or web browsing with a keyboard. Meanwhile not everyone has gone to an arcade or bought an arcade stick, making THAT the unnatural choice.

I just explained why. INSTANT motion in the opposite direction by lifting one key but keeping the opposite key pressed. Good for zigzag motion but obviously more flexible than just that. Much faster than moving a stick to the opposite side. And that's on top of the speed gained by the already low travel time of a good non-mushy keyboard.

Rude.

There is no advantage to keys... unless you think people exclusively use their wrist for movement.

We have at least one world class player for every single control method. Stop buttfucking this dead horse already.

I listed a ton of keyboard advantages and made no assumptions about wrist movement.

You're a retard. The joystick directions is much more natural to most people than 4 buttons for movement with 2 at a time for diagonals.

You mean theoretical "finger speed" assumptions that have no impact on ship/player movement. There's no advantage in one control method over the other.

Anyway, sorry for contributing to derailment here. I want Ibara + Kuro, dammit. Really should be the top demand in my mind due to crap emulation and lack of ports.

I actually use a Logitech gamepad with all PC shmups regardless of emulation.

I have no idea why you responded to me in particular; my point was that it doesn't fucking matter. But whatever, continue on with your arcade stick placebo.

This is cool and all, but I can't get very excited about PC releases of a bunch of games I already have.
And I don't like tating my PC monitor, anyways. I'm remarkably lazy.

Maybe if some of the ports are actually better.

I doubt they'll give us nice HD versions of their older games. An HD ESP Ra.de. would be awesome. As would an HD ESPGaluda.
But if it's just Mushi, DDP sequels, Deathsmiles, Galuda II, Akai Katana...I already have all of those. They sort of went all out on XBox.
And if it's just filtered versions of old games...Shmup MAME exists.

But I hope they make some cash.

Well, I'd accept fully HD versions of some of their XBox games. A lot of them had filtered backgrounds. That could be something to improve upon.
