Lords of Thunder promo video from 1994.

Post by Alpolio »

I watched this last year. And I did a search on this site and it doesn't look like anyone has seen it. So since I'm new, I just had to share.

It really brings back the memories when shmups ruled the world. And I love the old guy who walks by going "huh?"

I have that videotape. Not really sure why I kept it, oh wait.. its because Lords of Thunder kicks ass. Speaking of which, I'm interested in grabbing the segacd version because my bro got rid of the turboduo years back and I miss that game.

Whoa! Great find Alpolio. It reminds me of how much I need to get the game. I forgot how awesome the BGM was.

I love the video. ;)

Stay the hell away from the Sega CD version of the game. The sound was very screw up (some sound effects were missing and the sound effects were so loud, that you can't even hear the freaking music!). Also the game was waaay too easy (I played the game the second time and I 1CC it, the Duo version was much harder, because I 1CC it too). I could have purcahse the game, but I said nah.

That shirt is a bitch to find, but I've still got that video tape :) All you had to do was send em your name and address and they'd send you one for free!

Hahaha, I'd never seen any TurboDuo advertisements before. Pretty crass stuff, huh?

Holy cow... I've only played the SegaCD version, but you guys really weren't kidding when you said the audio was porked for Sega. Even this video sounds better!

I have that tape and it's HILARIOUS. LOT also looks rad as hell. I'm glad someone put it on the net, I was afraid I was gonna have to do it.

"Sega CD? I've seen it. Marky Mark and The Funky Bunch?!?! . . . No."

Ah, those were the days.

WHO IS ROD SOLDIER?? Did he drop off the face of the earth or what???

I agree that the Duo version is way better, but as far as the Sega CD version, can't you adjust the sound effect volume using the headphone slider on the console (for the model 1 Genesis)? That's how it usually works with Sega CD titles.

sega cd ver of LOT is missing some background animations from the TGCD version.

i also had that tape but i lost it several years ago. i also had another tape of turbo duo games, a compilation tape TTI made of several super system cd rom games like dungeon explorer 2, riot zone, shadow of the beast etc.

lost that tape too.

OT, but how is Beast on the Duo? I don't think the system could do the copper effects that the Amiga version did, I wouldn't mind hearing the remastered soundtrack.

The PCE version of Beast lacks some parallax in the underground stages, but the plains stage is still pretty colourful and has good parallax. The game still isn't very fun, but the CD music is GORGEOUS!

Oh, and get the US version; the JP version has full-screen cinemas, but awful loading times on them, plus the ending is just wacko.

I can remember reading somewhere that the PCE didn't have the hardware for parallax scrolling. And all of the parallax that we see is done in software.
