Outside interference - magnetism

I have 19inch pvm. I HAD my pioneer bs22 next to it on either side and my pioneer receiver sitting on top of the monitor. I was playing Zanac and noticed some weird coloration on the upper left hand corner of the screen. Popped in mario 3 and it was very apparent. My intuition told me it might be the receiver. It was. The pioneer speakers were contributing to it as well...

I was already going to invest in a proper entertainment center and some wall mounts for my speakers. In the meantime, however, this really suck... if I move the speakers and receiver back to their original positions do i risk doing permanent damage to the monitor?

Also... is their any shielding i can jerry rig to the outside of the monitor to stop the interference?

You noticed a problem and you're not going to play it like this, so you might as well not flirt with disaster, even if that danger is slight. There are some components in a CRT that could be damaged by magnetic fields - like the convergence and purity magnets in the back, and 80W sounds like a fair amount of power to me. Whether this particular combination is going to cause that trouble I can't say, but I certainly can't promise it'd be completely fine long term.

If you have some sheets of mu-metal lying around, you certainly can use those to shield the speakers or the monitor. Aluminum foil or a Faraday cage won't cut it.
