PS4 Imports

Post by MOSQUITO FIGHTER »

Have there been PS4 import exclusives released yet that are worth checking out?

It's so nice to not have to worry about region encoding. Good riddance.

Ryu ga Gotoku Ishin is great. It's a Yakuza game, so it's very story heavy, but there is a good English walkthrough you can follow along with online.
Puyo Puyo Tetris is probably fun if you like those games.
Earth Defense Force 4.1 is the best game on the console, but that's getting released in NA in a couple months.

Something I've been wondering, that seems to somewhat fit into this thread.

Does the PS4 still swap the functions of the cross and circle buttons when playing japanese games on a western console? That's always bugged me about the PS3.

Don't worry about it. You can travel from the Milky Way to Andromeda and back 1500 times before the sun explodes.

Japanese games still swap the O and X functions (it makes more sense that way anyway). I think it only affects the OS when you bring up the save/load menu in game, but I can't remember.

Its only the OS. None of the in game button configurations change from any of the games I tried out.
This industry has become 2 dimensional as it transcended into a 3D world.

Button remapping was introduced via a patch some time ago.
If you enable Custom Button Assignments in the Accessibility menu, you can then manually reprogram every button on the DualShock 4. Its at a hardware level, so any tweaks will be consistent throughout all games and OS. Though control schemes may change, the game will still display the default button icons.
I used the feature when playing the NA versions of Dark Souls II and Bloodborne with my JPN PS4, switching X to run/ dodge actions, as using O for said actions is just plain wrong.
