Quake 4 or Doom 3 players?

I'm quite rusty, but I'm always game for a good match of Q3A or UT2003/4. I'd be up for a bit of Doom 3 as well, but I'm not a big fan of the MP in that game. Q4 I don't have a copy of ATM.

It's funny that you assume user of shmups forum = intelligence. Christ. Not to knock them, but do you really think these boards are completely free of stupid bullshit?

And no, Doom 3 has shit multiplayer, reckon Quake IV does too. Mindless dogshit. The only good FPS is Day of Defeat (classic ver. only).

Maybe I was a little bit harsh. Still, I can't stand Doom 3. Have you played Quake 3? It's more or less the same thing only not slow as hell.

Even that's a little bit boring to play after some time, since there's not much depth to it. DOD is the only FPS I've found which takes some strategy, lots of skill, and is through map design able to force cooperation even in public servers...whereas in a game like Battlefield 1942 everyone's going off and doing their own thing, unless it's a clan match or something (in which case vehicles break the game anyways, DOD at least has some balance).

Intelligence doesn't really have anything to do with liking shmups, I think. I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed, myself. Yeah yeah, I'm in college and all that, all that really says is that I'm a spoiled white boy.

On the forum I still see a lot of 'whats your favourite' threads, console wars, and people advocating 'mindless fun.' While they may be smart people, that's not really intelligent conversation, IMO...

Honestly, Neon - i was just being friendly when i insinuated that people here where intelligent. I obviously didn't mean that EVERYONE on the Shmups board was some sort of super genius. I'm actually quite baffled as to how you took it like that.

With that said i can state with all honesty that the people i have encountered on Shmups have displayed a much broader intellect than those on say, emu paradise or luv2game. Though this forum does have its share of stupidity it is decidedly far tamer at that than the majority of other gaming forums.

... and i'm fairly sure that Doom and Quake are supposed to be mindless and shallow. Problem solved, though - if you like more substance in your FPS gameplay then apparently Quake Wars will provide it. Have you read about it yet?

Yeah well I play the demo version of Quake 4 quite often now since I am stuck with the pc for playing games till I get my consoles back and up.

I am a real n00b at this, but I regularly finisgh top2 in internet Deathmatches and occasionaly win won (when the other n00bs come out playing.

I would be in for some deatchmatches today or tommorow (as I have a day off) if ya want.

Shoot me a pm if you want to arrange a meet.

again I have the Demo only!
I am in for a Painkiller match too, and have a full version of that one!

Yes, the original Gauntlet is an Xbox Live Arcade game on the 360. It and Geometry Wars Evolved are the only XBLA games I have now.
