Taito did release a special contest arcade ver. of G-Darius
I once saw on the USA eBay site, an USA eBay seller was selling a special arcade contest revision of G-Darius PCB. It had different setup of gameplay of "Boss Rush" modes that were timed and the Japanese G-Darius arcade players that scored the highest were given out prizes for their hard-earned gameplay. This special G-Darius "Competition Version" PCB was produced in extremely limited numbers, hence it fetched over $260.00 USD when the USA eBay auction finally ended. (I didn't place a bid on it but was curious as to how much it would finally get for the "Winning Final Bidder's price".

That's what I've heard too, differences in rank for instance. They should've named it G Darius Extra though (just like with Darius Extra and Darius Gaiden Extra).Icarus wrote:G.Darius Ver.2 is an arcade only release. I beleive that it was an updated version with a few gameplay tweaks and bugfixes and stuff. Kind of like "G.Darius Black Label" ^_-

One of the main changes in it was i think with queen fossil A (it doesn't make the same huge tactical error of sending a quad beta beam at you!)
can't say what all the other changes are, but it's not sufficient to become an "EXTRA VERSION". extra versions have radically shifted level ddesign and order.

The biggest difference was optimisation - V2 has less slowdown.
