Holy smokes that Genesis soundtrack. Am I the only one who thinks this? Can't believe this soundtrack had evaded me for so long.

How's the FM Towns Marty version?

FM Downs has a pretty kickass redbook arrangement.
My port of choice though is the X68000 version as it supports true analog control.
Don't knock it until you've tried it: https://youtu.be/7g7j0iv2QYg?t=22m30s

Well, listen for yourself:

Honestly, most FM Towns games have totally awful redbook remixes. A big part of the character of simple arcade synth / chip tunes is their simple instrumentation, and the redbook audio releases don't do a good job of straddling the line between being different enough to stand on their own / lazy-sounding MIDIfications.
KT isn't quite that bad, but close: Glass bells and trumpets for the main melody, really?
