Controlling player one and player two at the same time

I don't know what their called, in holland they're called crocodile teeth.
The other day I got a few of these and I rewired the controls on my cab so that joy1 also controls joy2. This way you can play with two ships at the same time!
But when the game start player one is one the left and player 2 is on the right.
To get them on top of each other simply keep holding the joy in the bottom left direction until both ships are on top of each other.

Now you can play with two ship at once, but the ships need to have the same speed or else the ships will move apart when moving around. In RF1 there are two combinations that work:
Raiden mk-II & Beast Arrow
Devastator & Endeavor
Any slave combinations of the above

Anyone ever tried this?
Even on consoles? Easy to modify pads?, soldering is probably necessary in that case
Anyone wish to share their experiences?
If you complete a game with two player both on one credit is it still considered a 1cc?
I guess it’s like cheating or whatever, but it’s fun to experiment
GW2 for DC has the same option but in that game the ships are not one top of each other

Wasn't there a video of somebody beating Ikaruga with 2P, controlling each ship with one hand?

^Yeah, and he was sending each ship off in different directions, making them act independantly and doing a whole bunch of other crazy shit.

This method involves controlling both ships with the same controller. Both ships recieve the same input so move in the same direction, doing the same stuff and if you back both ships into a corner they will go over the top of each other (except for in games that allow 'bonking')

It's easy enough to set this up in MAME, I've experemented with it a little bit myself. With both ships positioned on top of one another, it would be interesting to see how different games handle which ship gets priority over powerups and stuff.
The biggest unanswered question is where is the money? [1CCS]

2-Player SCC (wel, technically DCC=Dual Credit Clear) is legit. There is nothing cheating about it. In many instances, 2-player makes the game far more difficult... especially in games with auto-rank systems. Psikyo games are very difficult to DCC as the rank with 2 players can escalate far higher and faster than in single-player. Ikaruga and Radiant Silvergun become even more intricate in 2-player as chaining has to be split.

Personally, I'd love to do a QCC (Quad Credit Clear) of DC Giga Wing 2, just for the sake of lunacy.

Some games are definitely easier when played in 2P mode though, so it depends. Many games lose their checkpoint system in 2P.

Yeah, even playing Strikers 1945 with 2 actual players is much harder than one. While I initially thought it was just confusing that there was a second plane on the screen - I later realized that the rank-up is super insane. In fact, it seems to me to rank up much more quickly than twice as fast (like one would assume).

Darius Gaiden (while the rank doesn't increase more) presents an interesting problem. Your ship needs to be super-powered to have a chance to clear the last couple levels and bosses without dying many, many times. Unless one ship gets all the power-ups and the second ship just dodges (which is hard to stay alive still because he won't have a shield) it basically will become impossible at the end.

Over here.
No matter how good a game is, somebody will always hate it. No matter how bad a game is, somebody will always love it.

However, you'll have to make sure you one-life it, since as soon as one ship dies, it will spawn in a different place and your ships won't be overlapping exactly anymore.

You mean this one?

This is one of the craziest replay videos I've ever seen. Dude must've memorized every single enemy and bullet pattern in the game.
