Want to turn JP21 Saturn RGB cable into Euro-scart

Post by Elrinth »

Hi!

So I have a 10pin-Mini-Din to JP21 scart Saturn RGB cable. But my gear requires me to use Euro scart atm. I'd like to convert it from JP21 to Euro.

Does anyone have any tips on how I can fix this? Or is it not possible?
Here's an image I made to describe how the cable's right now:

There is no resistor inside it atm. If I need a resistor, what colours does it need to be on the resistor? I might have one lying around.

Or maybe I keep it and simply order a new euro scart from retrogamingcables, but I'll also need one for my Pc-Engine as it's JP21 aswell... Sadly they don't have those available on their webpage just yet.

Thank you... Yeah I saw the image previously...

Also here's difference between euro and jp21:

If I simply solder like this will it work, or will I need to add that resistor shown?

The resistor is there to drop the 5V into the 1- 3V range to indicate that the SCART carries an RGB signal (0-0.4V indicates composite). I'd be tempted to simply leave pin 16 in it's original state - wired or unwired - though pin 16 on the JP-21 RGB may deliver 1 or 5V; ultimately it depends on the equipment that you are connecting to as it may simply ignore the voltage on pin 16 (i.e. wait to add one when you konw that there is a problem).

Basically move the wires (signals) that you have around to where they need to be and make sure GND is in all the places where it is needed.

Works like a clock. No resistors added!

However in my Pc-Engine calbe, there seems to be a resistor. I'll see if I can leave it in place or if I need to move it.

The Pc-Engine cable looks a bit different inside aswell.. Check it out:

Looks like they just bridged the grounds... That's all there is.

There.. COnverted both Saturn and Pc-Engine cables from JP21 to Euro... Easy! Thank you for guidance!
