Wow, as of late, I have barely had time for video games, and when I did have time, I didn't really feel like shmups.
Then tonight after maybe a couple months of no shmups, I stuck in Twin Cobras (one of my favorites), and remembered instantly why I've been a fan of this genre for so long.
I guess I've been worried that like fighters, I might somehow, someday lose my interest in shmups (not that that's stopped me from preordering under defeat and ibara), but the rush I had tonight skimming within an hair's breadth of baddies and point blanking them, all to wonderful 80's toaplan music (I doubt I'd love toaplan so much if there soundtracks weren't so great!)...! How could I ever stop loving shmups.
Anyway, I didn't know if any of the rest of you went through dry spells of no shmups at all. Can't say I've played very well tonight, but I've thrilled to every second of it!

I've gone on and off them a few times in the past. Usually I just focus on one shmup at a time, and when I get tired of it I normally won't play any for a while. However, I'd say about 70-80% of the games I play are arcade-style games, and probably a good 50% or more of those are shmups, so I never stay away for too long.

We here shall not rest until we have made a drawing-room of your shaft, and if you do not all finally go down to your doom in patent-leather shoes, then you shall not go at all.
