I would love for a proper "Darius Collection" to happen. I already have Taito Legends 2, so I don't expect to pick anything up unless there's a really impressive compilation. I would also love to try out Darius Gaiden with a proper autofire hack (please don't turn this into a debate thread!)
Aside from Darius, I don't 100% know that I care about Taito, though. If this is a collection with a lot of content then I'm interested, but only for Darius and Bubble Bobble if the ports are good/slick/complete.
Ah, I had no idea these were already a thing. Are they just straight ports of arcade games, one at a time, with no frills or history or anything? I don't think $8 is an exorbitant price if the game is good. But no way would I buy a bundle of them at that price.
Ports are handled by Hamster, you can see their logo on the first slide.
The ports are fairly straight ports without any frills, but for Gradius at least it was
pretty well done - flexible controller mapping with autofire, selectable Gradius or
Nemesis US/UK, various video options including scanlines, etc. In other words
the important stuff is done right. I'd rather have that than any fluff content.
Yeah, same. Sounds like they did a good job—hopefully they'll get things right with the Darius ports. I'm actually not sure what I want myself, having never played anything besides Darius Gaiden, G Darius, and Darius Twin.
Taito's really bringing their A game to PS4. Hopefully other shooter devs follow suit. I'd really love for Natsuki Chronicle and Raiden V to make it to PS4 so I don't have to get an Xbone.

Note that it says "Darius Series" rather than just Darius so there could be the possibility
of more than just the first Darius game.
That's interesting. Most of the arcade archives games are from the early to mid 80's. I don't think there have been any newer than '87 yet. Since Darius II is from '89 maybe they will continue to move forward. Since Taito is onboard now, hopefully we can see some Toaplan shmups too.
Man, I'd love a complete Darius collection too. I think I have most of the games in various forms on various platforms... just be nice to have them all in one place. And a dual-release, where it's out on PC too, so I know it'll be around forever. That'd be nice.
Making an action platformer with a transforming grappling hook: ChainStaff. Also made a shmup with multi-ships: Shoot 1UP DX, and more .
Love this news. Hopefully all the Bubble Bobble series follows, and Elevator Action 2. A Rayforce collection with the three released titles plus R-Gear would be great.
Seeing Ninja Warriors and other 12:3 games is an interesting idea. This would be better than MAME, esp. if your PS4 is on a 42" TV and not the 19" monitor where your PC is. Darius II could have both the 2 & 3 screen modes.
$8 is high for the older 8-bit titles, but not terrible for something 16-bit or on par with earlier Neo-Geo games.
I wouldn't mind seeing a seperate CS Archives series to bring over some titles which were console exclusive (i.e. Gradius Gaiden & Gradius V, Ninja Warriors Again, etc.)
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?
Well, I certainly hope that this collection of games will be better than what was emulated on Taito Legends 2 (PS2), because they were pretty messy ports aside from Raystorm and G-Darius. I'd love to play a console version of Metal Black that doesn't screw up max-beam attacks.
I guess the game will feature the usual emulation inconsistencies, but what's the lowdown on input lag, and does anyone know if the "Arcade Archives" ports support PS3 compatible USB arcade sticks?
