gigaWing series- which game do you like best?
GigaWing 2 was probably the first modern shooter I played, and it overwhelmed me. I just wasn't prepared for it. GigaWing was more manageable, and I liked the look of it a lot. It quickly became one of my favorite shmups, and I've always thought of it as my favorite in the series.
But last night I played first GigaWing 2 then GigaWing, and it really struck me that there was a lot more to do in the sequel. I felt a bit bored when I turned to the original. Plus the gameplay seemed somehow tighter thanks to the sharper graphics, and the music in the sequel is on the whole better, it seems.
So now I'm confused. Plus, I have decided not to spend time on GigaWing Generations until I get better at the first two games, so I really haven't put the time in to decide what I think of it.
Perhaps some of you are clearer on this issue. If so, please vote and explain your vote. Thanks.

I have yet to play Generations (soon, very soon...), but I chose the original game. I love both GigaWing 1 and 2, but I always come back to the first one. I will give 2 credit, though...it gave me one of the best 'HOLY SHIT, LOOK AT THAT' moments ever (my first medal volcano), and the soundtrack easily smashes the first game's...COME ON! COME ON! Argh...

now tighter than your sister

Call me nuts, but I'm half-tempted to vote for Generations...I really think a lot of good things are happening in it. It strikes a nice balance between shooting and reflecting (unlike 2, which all but eliminated the need for the former, if you were playing for score), gets rid of unnecessary plot (the first's cheesy anime stuff was at least somewhat appropriate, but the Biblical themes in GigaWing 2? Come on...), and has the least-obstructive medals and most visible bullets of any of the three. It's really unfortunate that the PS2 port had to be so stupidly crippled by the lack of a proper view mode and frame rate...I honestly think that if those 2 things hadn't been issues, it'd be a lot more popular around here than it is.

I voted Giga Wing, mainly because of it's graphics, and it's cool BGM beats. And it's more fast paced than GW2, which I really like.
I still think Giga Wing 2 is top notch shmup that has one of the best BGM's ever. And plus, the medal volcano is nucking futs! The backgrounds are also better in GW2 IMO.

I like the original more- I just have a hard time keeping track of the action in GW2, mostly because of the graphics. Haven't played Generations. I prefer Mars Matrix to the GW games though.

We here shall not rest until we have made a drawing-room of your shaft, and if you do not all finally go down to your doom in patent-leather shoes, then you shall not go at all.

I chose Gigawing 1 also. It has the best mix of score and survival out of the three.
Gigawing 2 seems to be one of the most score oriented games around. Which really kinda turns me off. Soundtrack is ace though.
I'm pretty much done with GWG. I didn't mind the lame graphics, levels, and long load times. It's really the frame rate that killed it for me. It's just confusing going from GWG to a game that moves at full speed. Plus the frameskip seemed to make it more difficult to judge where the ship was.
What gave Takumi the idea to make 3d games anyway. Their not exactly good at it. Stick to 2d I say. If Cave can get away with it surely they can too.
