Need help with NTSC consoles and 240V power...

Hey guys, I'm currently building up a collection of retro consoles. I live in Australia where it is 220-240V standard so you can see my issue here I much prefer the NTSC format because of the faster frame rates and full screen gameplay.

Some consoles like the my NTSC backwards compatible PS3 have a universal power supply so that is easy. I know the Dreamcast either needs a step up/down convertor or I can swap out the internal power supply to a PAL unit. What about the following consoles though:

3DO, I have read that it does not contain a universal power supply so a swap out or step up/down convertor would be needed?

N64, I'm pretty sure I can just use a PAL power brick that connects up to the rear of the console?

SNES?

Genesis?

Original Xbox? Bit hard to find info on this one due to search engines confusing all the xbox consoles for one another

Jaguar? I've read that I can use a power adapter as long as it has these specs:

1. 9 volt direct current (DC)
2. 1.2 amps
3. Center pin negative

Any help would be very much appreciated!

N64: Yes, a PAL power brick works.

SNES: You can use a 9V DC, 1.3A, center negative power supply. The PAL power supply outputs AC, not DC, so don't use that one.

Genesis: Depends on your model. Model 1: 9V, 1.2A, center negative. Model 2: 10V, 850mA, center positive

Saturn: You can swap power supplies, but make sure you get the right one. There are a couple of different versions.


A step-down converter would also work for any console.

Just buy a stepdown and all the SCART cables you get hold of. Thats if you want RGB.
