Scalebound

Post by evil_ash_xero »

So, what did you guys think of the gameplay trailer for it?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RR4c3wsFsMM

The music change is....weird. Not a fan of how you have nice fantasy music, and then it goes to dubstep or whatever, for the fights. But the game looks really promising. It's like you stuck Dante in a FF world. A Bit odd. But I'm fine with it.

I don't have an XBone, but maybe it'll make it to PC. Now that is actually a possibility.

My initial impression on watching the trailer earlier today was that the battles looked a bit too wide open for the little dude's combat. I know you're controlling the dragon too, and he needs space, but it makes the hacking and slashing look/seem a little slower paced then Platinum's usual.

That being said, I'm told you get a grappling hook that lets you speed around quite a bit, so that could be interesting.

Not totally sold on the MC's design, but I could see myself growing to like him overtime. Platinum usually has a knack for that.

The main character looks like a more likeable version of DmC's Dante.

Like, I hated the reboots' Dante, but this guy doesn't come across like a prick.
Actually, he kind of comes across like Nero.

Yeah he's not edgy or tryhard. Seems like an easy going kind of joker character who fits in with Platinum's cast without being a total clone of anyone in particular.

Yeah, that's what I thought.

Very Kamiya-like. He's somebodies' idea of "hip", but he's not...well, like (once again) an unlikable prick, like DMC's Dante.

I thought the main character was unbearable. Total douche. I'm really pleased that I wasn't that into the gameplay footage as I have no intention of ever buying an xbone. Hopefully I will not like the look of recore when we get to see that too!

Looks like one of those shit first party PS3 games from 2007 with a concept and an art-style I don't care about.
It also smacks of what a Japanese developer thinks the Western audience wants (let's call it Capcom syndrome) which isn't what I want from a Platinum game.

It seems like Platinum's Dragon's Dogma to me. I thought that game was garbage, but I have no reason to doubt Kamiya. He's made nothing but great games.

Please list a few examples.
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

After watching IGN's extended gameplay footage and reading their latest interview with Kamiya, I'm really looking forward to this game now. The framerate and some of the animations could use some work, but I'm confident they'll iron that stuff out in time for release. It's still over a year away, so plenty of time for that.
