Raiden V for Xbox One in 2015
Re: Raiden V for Xbox One in 2015
Wasn't this also for PS4?
Re: Raiden V for Xbox One in 2015
Nope.
The fact we've seen fuck all progress in almost a year is concerning.
And what news of Natsuki Chronicle and Shooting Love Trilogy?
The failure of Xbox One in Japan casts a shadow of doubt on all these games, unfortunately.
EDIT: The picture in the OP says '2015' so they've got just over 5 months to pull something out of the bag, from the position they're at now.

One stage F2P with extra stages on a monthly basis as DLC?

We can't lose hope until TGS this year. If nothing is shown there then I will hang myself in utter frustrationRealPlumpBox wrote:Man. I check this thread once a month for news. This makes me sad...

Re: Raiden V for Xbox One in 2015
I just want to warn you, I seriously doubt you will see any info on this at TGS. I've been the last couple years and there is never anything related to particularly obscure companies and shmups. Microsoft is apparently skipping TGS this year, and if anyone was going to give us a 5 second blurb on the game it was them. Moss sure as hell won't be there, I can promise you that.Furry Fox Jet Pilot wrote:We can't lose hope until TGS this year. If nothing is shown there then I will hang myself in utter frustration

I would be surprised if all the announced titles ever happen.

According to someone from Chinese touhou community who worked at Moss half a year ago, the game was going well in development. By the time he left they were working on the camera for stage 1, but he won't disclose anything beyond that.
However given the poor sales of Xbox One in Japan, we really can't make a prediction.

Damn.
I imagine if things completely fell through on the Xbox side, Moss would find a way to get it over to the Sony side. I'm not too worried.

There are other games in this genre that don't start with Raiden you knowFurry Fox Jet Pilot wrote:We can't lose hope until TGS this year. If nothing is shown there then I will hang myself in utter frustrationRealPlumpBox wrote:Man. I check this thread once a month for news. This makes me sad...

I know I'm like a broken record here but it was Shanghai Riceman Technology Co. Ltd that coded the PS3 ports for MOSS. Financially it would make more sense for MOSS to make a deal with UFO interactive games to market their product in territories where the Xbox One is more successful before trying to build a skillbase for yet another platform - the PS4 and it's development tools.ACSeraph wrote:I imagine if things completely fell through on the Xbox side, Moss would find a way to get it over to the Sony side. Re: Raiden V for Xbox One in 2015
The PS4 is not nearly as difficult to work with as the 3. Aren't the Xbone and the PS4 both essentially just consolized PCs? And either way, Raiden V probably doesn't have any chance of success in the west. They are going to need to release the game in Japan one way or another. It may take time, and it may even be oursourced, but I don't for a second expect Raiden V to stay exclusive to a platform dead in the only country that cares about the genre. Also Moss still seems to care a little about the arcade side of the equasion, so I'm curious what will happen on that front too. Could Nesica even handle it?

Yes, I've dabbled somewhat in many other games but I am the forum's biggest Raiden fan, the series will always be my favorite.Strikers1945guy wrote:There are other games in this genre that don't start with Raiden you knowFurry Fox Jet Pilot wrote:We can't lose hope until TGS this year. This is good news, it's better than nothing at all. I'm really interested in seeing how much the camera angles are being changed compared to Raiden III and IV. Who knows, maybe some features from the prototype Raiden III DX might make it into this game.x91 wrote:According to someone from Chinese touhou community who worked at Moss half a year ago, the game was going well in development. Re: Raiden V for Xbox One in 2015
On a general hardware level they may use similar components but so do Win PCs and Macs - but on the "system software", API, and tool level they can be quite different. Nothing should stop a competent developer to move from one platform to another but it still represents a significant investment in time and effort to do so.ACSeraph wrote:Aren't the Xbone and the PS4 both essentially just consolized PCs?
It would have a better chance than Caladrius on the Xbox 360. The western mainstream really isn't paying attention to 7th generation releases anymore and the West tends in general to be more interested in "military" rather than "character/fantasy" themed STGs. While the release of Caladrius on the western marketplaces is welcome by the fans, business-wise it comes across as a bit desperate as sales will likely be low and the release on a legacy platform is unlikely to attract any "new" customers.ACSeraph wrote:And either way, Raiden V probably doesn't have any chance of success in the west.
I wouldn't be surprised if the last "outsourcing venture" was primarily financed by UFO interactive - so MOSS may not have the reserves while they are trying to keep their own people "busy" and paid.ACSeraph wrote:...and it may even be oursourced...
If it was initially one of the targeted platforms (i.e. it was one of the accepted design and implementation constraints) sure - but after Caladrius AC is MOSS even interested in any more arcade releases? In terms of a global market sales Win PC would be a better platform but that simply isn't a good platform for the Japansese market.ACSeraph wrote:Could Nesica even handle it?
Re: Raiden V for Xbox One in 2015
Point is, if it get's released at all, it will most likely find its way to an acceptable platform for the Japanese market, and I don't think that is likely to be the Xbone unless Microsoft funded the project entirely. Even in that case a PC release, while not ideal, would be a better option for Japan.
As for the military style for the West thing goes, I think in the case of shmups it won't make any difference. A game like Raiden will never rise beyond the level of $5 throw away digital title for the average Western player.
Actually in a way, I think Caladrius might have a better chance of finding a decent niche among the weeaboo demographic. Nasty thing to say about my own game of choice, but I think it's the truth. Weird Japanese ero super-crazy-hard shooting game? Sold! They won't actually learn to play of course, but I do think the market is there. Unfortunately I also think it will damaging to the genre's reputation to further exploit it.

I hope so. I think a certain amount of respect is gained in Japan among the hardcore communities for having an arcade release and moss probably knows that. I seriously doubt Moss ever expected Caladrius AC to rake in cash in the arcades. But there is more to maintaining IP than simply selling console copies. Fostering respect and a reputation among the hardcore means something, and I think Moss understands that.HydrogLox wrote:after Caladrius AC is MOSS even interested in any more arcade releases?

Really?!?! I was just hoping for some shmups to hit NA on the X1 is all since it is region free and this is the only one that had some sort of news and possible release time frame.Strikers1945guy wrote:There are other games in this genre that don't start with Raiden you knowFurry Fox Jet Pilot wrote:We can't lose hope until TGS this year. I love Raiden to death, but I also hate anything to do with Microsoft to death.

Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

Is there any chance that something related to this game will be shown in a bit at Gamescom? Xbox presents in an hour and 8 minutes

I'd imagine this is now an Xbox One and Windows 10 title. I wish Moss would post something/anything about it.

Well, TGS is next month, so that will be our last hope to hear anything about the game unless MOSS just drops a gameplay trailer or something. Even though Microsoft will not be attending, I did read that Xbox One games will be present during the show.

The more I look at those artworks, especially the one where the fighter is taking on a tank in a tunnel, and that guy saying they where working on the camera angle for stage 1.
I think this is going to be some kind of hybrid 2d isometric thingma whatsit.
Still interested to see what happens, I just hope its not some silly idea to attract casuals that only ends up making the game crap.
Still thinking positive though haha

Re: Raiden V for Xbox One in 2015
I'm not too worried about the gameplay. What I'm more worried about is the music and the length of the game and content. I really hope that Go Sato will be returning as the composer and that the music is not garbage like most of Raiden III (except Stages 1 and 3) and the Raiden Fighters games. I also hope that there are more than 7 stages per loop and/or multiple courses like in Raiden DX.Nick420 wrote:The more I look at those artworks, especially the one where the fighter is taking on a tank in a tunnel, and that guy saying they where working on the camera angle for stage 1.
