So now that cave is dead, are the chances of a Kuro port 0?
Any chance they would let a different company like M2 take on the job? They have to know there's some money to be made with an Ibara / Kuro double pack. Especially as its the only black label game without a port right?

If this were a pack with any potential they probably would have done it. There's a reason it didn't happen while they were dumping literally every other SH3 game onto X360.
Re: So now that cave is dead, are the chances of a Kuro port
I think there's zero chance of them doing anything ever again unless a company actively approaches them with a sack of money wanting to license games.

You could say that they caved in.
Re: So now that cave is dead, are the chances of a Kuro port

Completely forgot about that one, I'd buy that on release for sure. Wonder how much $$$ cave would want to let another developer handle the releases of the rest of their catalogue? Surly jt wouldn't take much as they are dead now and any amount of money + royalties on sales would be a positive?Some-Mist wrote:they should at least release that supposedly already completed dangun feveron xbla port.

Re: So now that cave is dead, are the chances of a Kuro port
The cost/time it took for anyone to make these ports would probably be more than they'd make from it... You don't get to develop and publish these things for free... At a certain point you're choosing what not to spend your time on - e.g. 3-5 staffers on this for x months puts project y behind by x months...
Specifically, not that I think anything had been stated but I had presumed a while ago some weird licensing / bitter relationships harkening back from the ps2 port has tied up ibara...

Yeah, zero.
If you want to enjoy Ibara Kuro, your best bet is either emulation or buying the PCB. It sucks, but it is how it is.

I have a pcb but I would sell it in a heartbeat if a port got announced, which is what I've been hoping for forever.Teufel_in_Blau wrote:Yeah, zero.

Isn't the PS2 Arrange port good enough? This is what the Black Label PCB was based off, but without the annoying XTC bullet scraping that IMHO makes playing for score on the PCB a complete bore.

Of course not, it's a completely different game.Dave_K. wrote:Isn't the PS2 Arrange port good enough?

I love the XTC system, makes the game feel similar to Psyvariar without the stupid stick wagging. Plus it only comes into play when rank is maxed out really sine theres so many bullets to take advantage of the system. Its fun.Dave_K. wrote:Isn't the PS2 Arrange port good enough? They said with their last port they were having to decide between Ibara and Mushi. I remember reading that. Now if they thought it over for a minute or a few days who knows. I'm sure they went with Mushi because it was the more popular of the two.
I with they had given MMP the full HD treatment then they could have slapped Ibara and Pink Sweets in a set. Or all three I suppose.
I have a Kuro PCB but would still have liked a port also.

Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

Re: So now that cave is dead, are the chances of a Kuro port
cave seems not so dead :
their twitter account "@cavegames" recently replies to all they twitter interactions, when someone asked them about a steam port, they replied something like (soso translation of nihongo) "steam is interesting, we look forward to".
I think all the people who dream about steam port of cave games should not tweet to them.
they always used to talk about "adapting to market", so chances are still there.
especially after TAITO announcing a darius burst STEAM port

They were thanking people for requesting their games for Xbox One compatibility.Satan wrote:I saw them Tweet something about Xbox One, no idea what though.

I just used twitter's translation. The guy they are quoting seems to be asking about them porting some mobile game to 360. I dunno.

Re: So now that cave is dead, are the chances of a Kuro port
Not sure what the point of it would be, I'm not sure they'd even manage to sell a small print run. XB1 in Japan is a corpse.

Their Twitter page is still super active. I wonder what's going on. I'm trying not to get my hopes up for a new shmup.

Yeah, I'm not sure why japanese devs are considering Xbone a remotely viable option. PC really seems like the only way to go.

Re: So now that cave is dead, are the chances of a Kuro port
Not many japs are PC gamers, may because are lazy with installing compatible games or because they think is a nest full of pornographic game. Whatever the reason may be, PC is not very profitable there, as well there aren't the same strong services like in the west, at least not to the point of hiring pc programmers in order to make games for the system.Special World wrote:Yeah, I'm not sure why japanese devs are considering Xbone a remotely viable option. Regarding Cave, didn't they worked for a SMT online game for PC? Why didn't they borrow some of those programmers and port some of their most famous games like Mushihimesama or DodonPachi?
Degica and other publishers are waiting for such thing to happen, with their funds ready to be used.

Re: So now that cave is dead, are the chances of a Kuro port
I always wondered why Cave never released some "Cave Classics Collection" with Donpachi, Dodonpachi, and DOJ. To me, that's really the only thing that would have the slimmest chance of selling in the west. Market it for $40, say it's got three classic games, maybe even throw in the Dangun port as an unlockable. I don't know that Cave really understood or tried to understand the western market.
I also have no idea why every STG has small-ass pictures of the horizontal screen instead of just larger tated screenshots without the border. Does that go against regulations of some kind in Japan? Because the way pictures are on Cave ports, they might as well not have any pictures of the gameplay at all. I can't make out shit.

Re: So now that cave is dead, are the chances of a Kuro port
I always figured it was just because most people don't have (or intend to get) a rotate-able screen setup, and would be playing the games on a horizontal screen as pictured...of course, they always have to offer the "use caution and don't blame us if you wreck your TV" disclaimer in the manual when tate mode is covered as it is.Special World wrote:I also have no idea why every STG has small-ass pictures of the horizontal screen instead of just larger tated screenshots without the border.
