Hello everyone,
I recently purchased a Hanzo & Kenzei from beharbros to go from my dreamcast to VGA, then to SCART, and into my Sony PVM-20M2MDU. Unfortunately, I'm running into an issue and was hoping you could help me out.
When I turn on the dreamcast the image is duplicated (one image is on the left side of the screen, and the other is on the right). The screen doesn't bounce or anything, it's just duplicated. Do any of you have any ideas what is causing this?
I tested the same setup going to the XRGB Mini instead of the Sony PVM and everything worked fine. I'm currently using a Sync stripper on the XRGM mini, but don't think I have one on the adapter I'm using for my PVM TV. Could that be the problem?
I tried changing the sync option in the TV which didn't make a difference. I also tried changing the 'Scart CSync mode select' on the Kenzei, but that just made things worse.
I'm fine buying a sync stripper for my Sony PVM if that's what's causing the issue, but I wanted to be sure because they're not too cheap.
The SCART cable I'm currently using that goes from the Kenzei to the TV is just a random one that I bought off of eBay, so I don't know much about it. Could that cable be causing an issue?
Thanks in advance for any advice. I'm still new to the whole SCART/Sync stuff, but this is the only console I've had issues with so far.

A double image means you're running in 480p. You don't see the problem with the XRGB is because it is compatible with 480p. PVM 20M2's are 480i/240p only.

Ah, that makes sense and was actually what I was just wondering.
Thanks for confirming that!
Edit: Quick question. Is there anyway to down-convert it to 480i, or should I just find a SCART cable and use that with the Dreamcast?

I don't have a Hanzo, but according to its website, it has a 480i switch. So you should be able to hook it up directly to your PVM.

I noticed that and flipped the switch but it didn't seem to work. I tried it again with everything unhooked and now it's working through the monitor in RGB mode. I should have probably read up more on all this before posting this thread, but I can't thank you enough for your help!
