Help starting Hellsinker

I have Hellsinker from, somewhere. It might just be the file but I can't start it. I think I applied the english patch correctly (pasted 1.0.0.9 patch folder contents to game folder, overwriting everything it asks, then pointed English patcher to correct folder) but both before and after I applied the patch I just got a ton of ????????s in a warning box, I guess it's not translated. Doujin devs do weird stuff with warning/caution/prompt boxes so I have no idea what to make of it.



With/without 1.0.0.9 and/or English patch:

>launch Hellsinker
>Weird warning dialog box "??????????"
>90s launch menu opens, I mash around in it
>Click start
>more "????????????"

Special Japanese only-round:
Sometimes I see a box which says something about HS.exe, 0044DD47 0000004 and some question marks.

Is there something I'm supposed to be doing that I haven't?


EDIT: padassign_e and padassign give me angry ????????? boxes, no matter what I do, too.

Do you have the proper language packs? Understand them or not, those question marks should display an actual language and not just question marks. If you DO have the proper language packs, try setting the locale to japanese, or use Applocale. The dialogue box should display something that could be posted and interpreted here by someone who can understand it. I'm pretty sure you'll have to get that sorted first before this particular issue can be solved.

Though I have no affiliation with the people who made the english patch, so it's possible I'm wrong about all of this.

Hello, you need to use a official software by Microsoft called applocale -> http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download ... x?id=13209.

Some japanese software is restricted in some way so you need this kind of program. You just open the applocale and search for the Hellsinker executable and ta-da.
