USA vs. Japan Actual Giant Mecha Fight 2016

Post by DJ Incompetent »

MegaBot vs. Kuratas

One day, USA was all, "We built this here robot, you got a robot, let's fight in a year with paintballs!"

Then Japan was all like, "yeah this is weird, but we'll totally do it! We gotta have melee combat tho."

So we're gonna live out a pay-per-view anime in 2016. Even if it'll be two parade floats slowly running into each other..

Reminds me of that 20th Century Boys manga. I for one found the "virus" killing a man in like tens of seconds after infection (through no other way than one's skin) the more embarrassing concept.

Copper ore miners around here are about to enter a deep mineral deposit using exclusively remote-controlled robots. Now that sounds like a next-gen job.

Sure beats "Rockbot!"
Two working class dudes, one black one white, just baked a tray of ten cookies together.

An oligarch walks in and grabs nine cookies for himself.

Then he says to the white dude "Watch out for that black dude, he wants a piece of your cookie!"

Predictions - Giant paintgun robot gives the Japanese robot a new paintjob, but ultimately ends up getting punched in the face.

Ah, Robot Jox all over again. That realization that the fantasy of a giant mech and the reality of a giant mech could not be further apart.

I await this spectacle with open arms. The only thing that isn't digital in cyber war is the blood.

Bah! The Kuratas is on silly little wheels! This is what happens when you turn to anime, where giant robots are as nimble as ballerinas, for inspiration. The Megabot mark 2 is based on imperial walkers, something within the realm of plausibility. Locate the battle on uneven terrain and USA VICTORIOUS!

Though I am disappointed they used a Saitek joystick for the controls instead of a superior CH setup.

Haha, I was just about to post almost the exact same thing in another thread. It's often like obi is having an internal conversation and then posting fragments of it as though it were one statement / thought / paragraph. Streams of conscience which make sense to no one but him.

I bet that fight is going to be super lame. It's the first time anyone's doing such a thing after all.

Streams of consciousness you mean (autocorrect hell!). but yes, totally off the wall poster for sure. I've read the entirety of 20th Century Boys and this topic is so far removed from everything to do with it I have no idea how a parallel can be drawn.

Basically it can't.

Streams of conscience - is that what happens when a dog pees on a your least-loved local government official's trouser leg?

Let me see if I can get in on this action.

Interpretation of the movie Alien:

You're trapped in a haunted house. There's a ghost. It wants to eat your friends and have sex with your cat. When forced to decide between the lives of your friends and the chastity of your kitty, you choose the cat.

Did I do it right?

I don't think these can ever not be lame if there's a pilot in there. What with how they'd rather not murder each other. At very very best we're talking about a one sided wrestling match between invalids if they're not putting on a show.

Even without a pilot, giant robots are still either slow or made out of origami.

Tangentially related is the latest DARPA robot challenge. A disaster, but so was the first automated ground vehicle challenge.

Well, I support this. I'm sure it will be awkward and kind of lame, but it's time to start the robot battles.
I would much rather see this, than, say, monster trucks.

The "Megabot" looks sturdier, since it's got the bulldozer things going on. The JP one will have to have add some stuff to make it more sturdy. It looks kind of like a giant model, more than a working machine.

You know, if Killdozer was still around, he'd wipe them all out. Insanity wins.

I think it would be best if they removed the pilots altogether and use remote control, arm the mechs with live weaponry, air drop them into the Nevada test site and let them maneuver around trying to demolish each other with autocannons and missile racks.

As cool as that would be, that would make for only a one time thing. What I'm imagining is that eventually other people are going to get in on this.

I've gotta sig this. This is the greatest story I've read in awhile.

I imagine they're going to weakly flail at eachother for a bit until the batteries run out, but I approve of this.
