i know it's going to be scaled, but i can live with it even if i do find it ugly. no tate though that's another story, there is no way i'm buying a no tate port.
anyway as you said there is always the pcb option, ibara is pretty cheap. all the more reason not to buy a no tate port.
edit: do people who don't care about scaling play in RGB? if you don't no wonder you don't care. i don't mean this to be a low-res witch hunt, just curious.

I do play in RGB, the scaled games look like shit. Not a big deal to me, gameplay is king.chtimi wrote:i know it's going to be scaled, but i can live with it even if i do find it ugly. no tate though that's another story, there is no way i'm buying a no tate port.

The port has badassical extras, it'd be a shame to skip it over graphical nits.

Scaling is a shame, but if you don't want to turn your TV on it's side - there's not really any other option. I do use RGB. The superblurry filter effects though bug the hell out of me - that should be an option menu thing. In some it is. Of course, $60 for an Ibara port is still considerably less than $700+ for the PCB - I think the 'no tate=no purchase' point of view someone put forward, is just being silly. Not playing the game just because it doesn't let you play with your TV on it's side seems absurd to me.

If I were Recap, I would totally hit you in the face with a true-low res phonebook.Neon wrote:

I don't think anyone would skip it over such small graphical nits. But with all those "bad ass extras" added, do you think it would have killed them to add a fricking option to turn on/off interlaced mode!?? Taito is clueless.Neon wrote: I do play in RGB, the scaled games look like shit. Not a big deal to me, gameplay is king.

Yeah, no shit. I guess some would prefer clueless Taito to not port anything anymore. Fuck them for bringing Dragon Blaze, G. Darius, and Ibara to ps2, those bastards.BulletMagnet wrote:Yeah, but we should be grateful, otherwise it wouldn't have bothered to put forth the effort to port such a niche title anyways.Dave_K. wrote:Taito is clueless.

If Mushihime has Tate, I can't see Ibara failing to follow suit. Hell, I don't think Cave will allow said omission. IIRC all we saw of Mushihime at first were Yoko screens. Everybody wondered if Tate would be in it- and there it was. I'm hoping they kill the filters this time for the Tate mode. This would be a must-have even without the Tate.
I still break out PS2 Giga Wing Generations every now and then, but if a new port of it came out for another system I'd throw down another $60 if it had Tate or if it were an Xbox 360 port that could fit the whole 480x640 play area on a 720p screen in Yoko.
Ibara + "badassical extras" - $640 of the PCB's price = A DEAL.

DaveK - I was being silly earlier, but in all seriousness I don't think Taito deserves any negative comments at this point. Lack of filters would be nice, but I'm glad we're getting a port at all.
I dunno if that's the way it works - doesn't Cave sell them the rights to the game, then they port it and that's that?If Mushihime has Tate, I can't see Ibara failing to follow suit. It doesn't have to work that way. It's all dependent on what type of agreement they signed and what the terms are. It would not be unreasonable for Cave to demand some sort of approval power, as bad ports reflect upon their brand name poorly.Neon wrote:DaveK - I was being silly earlier, but in all seriousness I don't think Taito deserves any negative comments at this point. Neon, glad you said this. I am certainly gratefull Taito is doing these ports, and I would never pass them up over these small graphical nits (thats essentially what I wrote in my last post). I'm just being silly too, being the perfectionist that I am.Neon wrote:DaveK - I was being silly earlier, but in all seriousness I don't think Taito deserves any negative comments at this point. I wonder why all the fuss about Tate. Has anyone proof that there won't be any tate options? It seems like people here are easy to panic, as always i'd add. No scaling would be ace ( RGB and scaled-up graphics are not funny if you're asthygmatic, like me), but hell, i'll soon get Raizing metrosexuality galore for 60 $, that's already a dream come true...
and this from Taito, of course [/Taitofanboysince1978]

I blame it on the gigawing generations port lack of tate.Randorama wrote:I wonder why all the fuss about Tate. Has anyone proof that there won't be any tate options? I blame it on the typical bad habit of human beings to panic and start spreading bullshit whenever someone spreads a malicious rumourAcid King wrote:

Oh, sorry, it was by no means meant to sound as a critique. It's just that, as always, non-issues have become issues, all of a sudden. Saying that Taito is clueless just because they don't have OFFICIALLY ADDED a non-interlaced mode is a bit extreme, i'd add (right, Dave?).Frankly, instead of three zillions threads about this issue, i'd like for someone to find out while there is an interlaced mode. If they add it without any reason (save for people on a tiny western board to write an infinite amount of rants about its presence in shmups, i would invoke the cruelty of great Cthlhu, the blind cosmos and let the issue go, personally

Patience is not one of my virtues. Especially when it comes to videogames and related merchandise. ^_-
Well, Rando, you should know fine well that people aren't happy unless they have something to complain about, no matter how trivial or minor. ^_-Randorama wrote:I wonder why all the fuss about Tate. I think (correct me if I'm wrong, Rando) he meant he has an astigmatism.BulletMagnet wrote:Outta curiosity, what does that mean? I don't think I've ever heard of it before.Randorama wrote:asthygmatic

yeah, i guessed by directly writing the original greek word, didn't realize it has a more readable version. Still, now that i accept my metrosexual identity(...
), i can also accept the scaled-up graphics. While it's not unproblematic for me to play with scaled-up graphics, it's stll more problematic to play by throwing money around on PCBs (and let them collect dust after a few plays
).
