Hello,
I have an odd issue with my XRGB-Mini when playing Chrono Trigger on the SNES. For some reason, the screen starts bouncing when the text boxes come up on the screen. The image is fine otherwise and doesn't bounce. Does anyone know what is causing this and if there's a fix? It's the only game I've played so far with this type of issue.
I'm assuming the issue is related to SYNC, but the same SYNC cables work fine on my Sony PVM and the image doesn't bounce at all. I've tried updating the XRGB to the latest firmware and have reset the settings, but it didn't seem to help the issue.
I'm using a 'Micomsoft XRGB Mini powered sync stripper adaptor for SCART to XRGB Mini 8 pin' that I purchased from retro_console_accessories on eBay. This is also who I bought my SNES SCART cables from.
Does anyone have any idea how to resolve the issue? Thanks in advance!

What SNES do you have? 1CHIP or Mini? If you have either, then it sounds like you need a SCART cable with CSYNC instead of composite video sync.

Somebody else was complaining about this not too long ago. Very strange issue. I checked on my setup with the 1CHIP-03 using a CSync JP-21 cable into the Framemeister and there's no bouncing, so I have no idea what that could be.

Re: XRGB-Mini Issue with Chrono Trigger SNES
I have an NTSC SNES mini. I'm not sure if the SCART cable I'm using is CSYNC or not. I'm going to buy another passive adapter (one that doesn't have a sync stripper) and a CSYNC SNES cable to see if that resolves the issue.
If I increase the SYNC level in the options it improves the bouncing a little bit, but it still acts really funny with this particular game. I'll update you guys once my new adapter and cable arrives.
If you have any other suggestions, please let me know.
Thanks.

That is what I would suggest. Since you are in NTSC-land, there is no reason to deal with a powered sync stripper for the SNES since csync has a pin provided at the multiout. Even if a later model (1CHIP-03) doesn't provide it, the restore for it is easier.sicbud wrote:and a CSYNC SNES cable to see if that resolves the issue.
Since you have a mini modded for RGB, you should be good to go with csync.

Have you tried just adjusting the SYNC_LEVEL setting on the XRGB-mini? This happens from time to time; the other night I had a date over to play Super Street Fighter II and was getting this issue on a certain screen (can't remember which one, I think it was the score screen after a fight finished, but no other screen), adjusting the SYNC_LEVEL down stabilized the image.

Yeah, I tried this. When increasing the setting, the current screen will stop bouncing, but when I go talk to someone else, it bounces again.darcagn wrote:Have you tried just adjusting the SYNC_LEVEL setting on the XRGB-mini?
