mvs to bvm

Post by tighecg »

does someone make a jamma to bnc connector? I have an MV-1 and a 20-f1u, if I buy a harness and put BNCs on it, would I have to do anything else?

You should add variable resistors. The BVM expects consumer video levels (<1V peak), while the MVS will output arcade levels (~3-4V peak).

thanks, anything special about the resistors, or am I just trying to get the voltage down? also in a different thread you told me I need an amp to use the sync out of my genesis, do you have a particular layout you use? do you have a link to a schematic you use? I don't want to bog you down with questions, but you seem to be the man around here. I don't understand the need for scart cables or these other components people use between the systems and displays. these people seem capable of making their own cables and connections, why wait for scart stuff to be ordered and the money they spend on it, then just to convert it to a different connection style. it seems silly and a waste to me, am I missing something?

You just need to bring down the peak voltage, but since you're building from scratch anyway, use variable resistors right away.

To use the MD's sync output you don't need an amp, you need a buffer (capacitor in the sync line).

As you can see here http://members.optusnet.com.au/eviltim/ ... escart.htm , different systems require different components in the RGB lines and the Scart header is actually a very convenient place to put those.
