XRGB Mini Framemeister

Post by Jeppen »

Hey all

I've had a Framemeister for 2 years and while expanding my retro console collection and hooking them all up Mr. meister, i have noticed that one problem persists through out all of them.

There is a not so agreeable low humming noise coming from it, sounds like a ground error, but the consoles are all ok when testing them straight into the TV (with horrible video of course) so it muct be the Framemeister itself.

Has anyone experienced the same or have an idea what could be the problem?

If the noise is present on composite or component inputs I'd guess it has something to do with your power supply. But if it's only there when using the RGB input then I think you need to check your scart to mini-din 8 cable for problems like loose wires, shorts, ground pins not being connected together, and so on.

It is unfortunately present on both RGB input and the Audio/Video input in the front.
I have tried many different cables and also different HDMI output cables and different TVs.

Still the same low hum noise.

What could it be?

Is the hum coming through the audio? This really sounds like a power supply issue. Hopefully it has not caused some sort of permanent damage to your Framemiester. I'd look into ruling that out first with a different/better power supply, as well as trying to isolate where it's plugged in (i. e. check to see if the hum is the same in other sockets of the house).

I used a switching power supply 230V to charge it, i also used a transformer 230 to 110 v with the original Framemeister power supply from Japan.
Same result, so it doesn't seem to be a power issue in from that perspective at least.

Also tested it with different TV's and many different Nintendos, SNES and Famicoms.
Same thing.

It's really bugging me
