I also am wondering if I can disable vsync because my refresh rate seems too slow. Or maybe my old ass Pentium can't keep up

Sound in Cho Ren Sha for Windows
So, I've been trying to get Cho Ren Sha set up for Windows, but haven't been able to get sound. I copied that 68ksound.dll it comes with into the DLLs subdirectory, and it still didn't work. Got any ideas? I have the readme file, but it's in Japanese of course. This is on Windows 98.

Can't help with the sound problem but if you hold up on the options screen, you can access a hidden options screen. There's a 'vwait' option in there which might control vsync?

Are you sure you downloaded the official Windows version? I know in XP and Win7 you need to use Windows 95 compatibility mode to get the sound working (otherwise it stutters) but I don't have that file anywhere at all in my directories for the game.louisg wrote:I copied that 68ksound.dll it comes with
Try again with this link just to make sure: http://www2.tky.3web.ne.jp/~yosshin/my_ ... 050820.ZIP (it's the latest Windows version, he also has an older one posted)

Re: Sound in Cho Ren Sha for Windows
I found out what it is: It needs a 16-bit sound card
I was using my Sound Blaster Pro for its beefier sounding FM chip, but it won't work with Chorensha. 'course, now when I start the game, the music stutters out and everything freezes
Probably some sort of system conflict.

What are you trying to run it on? It needs at least a Pentium II 400MHz or so

It's on a P200, and actually runs OK with no sound. I think it's a conflict that's bringing it to a halt because the sound card has some issues with certain DOS games as well.ED-057 wrote:What are you trying to run it on? It needs at least a Pentium II 400MHz or so
Hmm, this should probably be moved to the Hardware forum
