MAME movie used to sync and is suddenly not syncing anymore

The game is Daimakaimura (rom name = daimakai). I made the movie with the official MAME 0.162.

It used to sync from beginning to end, but now it goes out of sync right after I pick the magical weapon at the end of stage 5 (2nd loop).

I even uploaded the synced movie to my channel while it was still syncing:

What happened to the movie? It used to work perfectly. How can I make it work again?

Try deleting your NVRAM folder and CFG folder. Generally speaking, you get the most reliable recording and playback results if both are done always from fresh NVRAM states. For shmupmame, I set my NVRAM folder to NULL to prevent it from ever saving any. Games that I would want NVRAM on to avoid long boot times (Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, Raiden Fighters Jet), I use MAMEPlus.

I deleted the nvram and cfg folders. Still no dice.

I really don't understand what's going on as I haven't changed anything. I never opened the .inp file and changed anything inside it, plus I'm certain I'm using the same ROM and the same emulator version as before...

inp files are not compatible version to version. That's why on marp it tells you which mame build to use to play them. It must have been a different version. It probably has the version info in the file header (maybe).

I guess maybe also it could be that you had an existing nvram file before recording and it since changed.

I could not get the movie to sync again, but I came with a solution.

I simply put the movie to playback while recording a new movie at the same time. I played the movie until the point of desync and then remade the movie from that point and onward. I only needed to beat two bosses to clear the game anyway, so now I have a fully working movie again. ^^
