On PC tend to just use the keyboard, but I have an Arcade stick thats long overdue for a new graphic I'm thinking of Shmup theming. Maybe use pink lightup buttons to simulate some bullets across a graphic or something.
enjirube impresses again.
there are some things i personally would have done differently, mainly on the joystick mount bolts (countersunk bolts is what i use for my builds) but generally cool man. what did you use to cut holes on the thin plexi with? i've had bad luck with hole bits before haha.

I appreciate the feedback on the stick mount, however I am quite happy with the black dome headed M4 screws. They are smooth anyway and they don't get in the way when I am holding the stick.
To be specific it is not plexi, this is lexan polycarbonate which is a lot tougher. It was easy to cut with a normal hole cutter.
Yeah true, totally depends on what grip you use. I've always used the wine glass grip so I probably wouldn't get away with surface screws as the left bottom one would rub the side of my palm I reckon. I'm going do entire build soon, just looking into the dreaded case fabrication.
Does anyone know where I might buy a Suzo 500 from?

If I was inclined to change to black counter sunk screws it would be an easy mod. Just take the dome heads out, use the counter sink drill bit and change them out, easy.
I will see how it goes with the current set up and then change if it is ever uncomfortable. I will play a few hours and let you know
RoninBuddha wrote:it's not really an issue when playing imo, but for some it might be visually distracting, (i prefer hiding the screws under the overlay, for example.)
american cabinets have HUGE bolts surface mounted on panel for the joysticks (happ/ils) and it adds a certain rigid character to it.
True. This is only my second mod and my first build so lots of things to try in the future. Still overall really happy with the outcome.
I want to add some more weight as it feels a little light for my taste, and I am not yet sure if I have enough power from the usb/ps360+ board to power some LEDs inside the case? It would look cool at night to have them under the buttons.
I got around to playing a few hours this evening and it didn't bother me, I kinda think it does give it a rugged industrial feel. Fits nicely with my overall theme IMO.
Good news it that is has now been tested on 360, PS3 and PC and all good
Yeah but American bat top sticks (Happ, etc) were generally not held in the same manner, and therefore the bolts may rarely ever have caused an issue. I was talking more about my personal wine glass grip style, where the side of my hand would be rubbing on the lower left bolt head much of the time as my wrist is always at about 7 o'clock.
No disrespect meant towards enjirube's stick, I think it's awesome, was just sharing my initial thoughts regarding surface bolts for me.
He did an amazing job and it came out better then I could have imagined.
The wiring is fucked though, its a Paewang pcb for 360/ps3. The select button works, but the middle button functions as start and home, and the right button is non functional.
Anyone familiar with Paewang or wanna give a shot at fixing it? The schematics online are not really helpful..

Just post a pic of the wiring. It shouldn't be a big issue. Left Button on your stick should be select (as you told), middle one button is Home and the right one Start. When using this PCB most of the stick builders wire the turbo together with the home to one button. The turbo button is needed for switching the between xbox360 and ps3 mode. I assume he just take a wrong wire.

When did you get this from Souji? He used to hang out on SRK, but sorta disappeared long ago. We were supposed to meet up @ Devastation 2011, but I barely missed him.

Modded Madcatz TE with modded Suzo 500 joystick.
Art done in photoshop and then laminated and glued.
Thanks to Emphatic and RetroSteff for helping with the custom shaft.
Thanks to Elixir for the cave combat picture.
I know this is super old, i needed to see the specs of this again and the images are not showing up anymore on any of monouchi's posts for me. Seems like it's just his images in particular. I went to check the cave-stg site and realized it has been shut down. I've been out of the loop for a while obviously. This stick has been in my possesion now for a few years and i would really appreciate it if someone could re post or link to the photos/porn of all the specs and what not of this masterpiece that i neglect

All I remember is that it's a Suzo stick, and I actually happened to have dibs but couldn't afford it at the time, so I passed. If you're neglecting it and wanting to sell, give me a shout? I'm still interested.
@Elixir: if i decide to sell it later on I'll definitely let you know
If you happen to find those pics monouchi i would really appreciate it. Could have swore i saved them but after digging through bunches of files i can't find them. Was going to CEO this weekend and if Markman23 was going to be there (he tweeted about the stick years ago) i wanted to do a little revival showcase of the masterpiece that is this stick. The pics of those specs would really help. Was going to tweet some of those old images at him prior to see if he was going to be there, and that led me all the way back here. RIP cave-stg

Combed through my old iphone4 to see if i had sent these photos as a text or ever saved them. Found some fond memories but it turns out i never ever saved these photos to anything. Really irks me that these photos are seemingly gone

Dont worry, I will check my old folders this weekend.
You're sure to be in a fine haze about now, but don't think too hard about all of this. Just go out and kill a few beasts. It's for your own good. You know, it's just what hunters do! You'll get used to it.
