However, considering that light-->heart-->dark combo Hermit just mentionned and Aisha leans toward, I might consider using Sleeping Beauty along with Vampire.
And Geist gave his 100% consistency team that is very close to mine, but uses Chaos Devil Dragon.

Out of the three options, I'll roll a 3-sided dice and see what comes out, you know, Gungho style !
GungHo-style would be to use weighted dice that usually gives you the worst possible outcome. :P

More often than not, you'll be able to make more dark orbs with Sleeping Beauty or Chaos Devil Dragon. When you need to kill something with over 1 million HP, the 3 dark orbs from Goetia aren't going to help much -- and I'm not just referring to King of the Gods here, but in general.

Ugh, just found out that Black Bowl Dragon is starting Monday. With 8 days left on 2.5x skill-ups, I have to use this opportunity to max-skill dark Izanami for my Kali team. If it's not skill-ups, it's farming materials for various things. I wish I could get a break so that I could concentrate on farming experience for my new teams so that I could actually use them one day.

Congrats! The water one was the hardest for me when working through them for the first time because of the attribute disadvantage. The next two should be pretty easy because you can exploit their weaknesses. Although a note of caution when stalling during Noble Shining Claws: Harpie Demons can dark bind your team, which will more than likely end your run.

Necronopticous wrote:So back on the topic of Star Vault. I was recently lucky enough to roll a 3rd(!) Red Odin. We now also have the Best Friend system, and I just uvo'd my Vritra. What does all of this mean? Well, I am working on a team that can clear Star Vault without having to match a single orb in 20-30 seconds per clear. It is an insane amount of work on a super gimmicky team, and also requires that I find someone with a +99 attack Vritra with the same investment in the same strategy willing to best friend me, so I have no idea if/when I will be able to pull it off, but it's a fun goal to work toward.

If you're curious, the team works like this:

Required:
Chaotic Flying General, Lu Bu (At least skill lv.2) +2 Skill Boost
Awoken Phantom God, Odin (Max skill) +3 Skill Boost
Awoken Phantom God, Odin (Max skill) +3 Skill Boost
Awoken Phantom God, Odin (Max skill) +3 Skill Boost
Abyssal Darkdragon, Vritra (+99 ATK) +2 Skill Boost
Abyssal Darkdragon, Vritra (+29 ATK) +2 Skill Boost

This gives you exactly +15 Skill Boost, which means all actives are up on turn 1.

Then you press the glowy buttons in this order:

Lu Bu -> Red Odin -> Red Odin -> Red Odin -> Vritra -> Vritra

Collect + eggs.
Bring on Star Vault.

Necro, 3rd Rodin is already max skilled ?
Damn, I should work on mine. Do those 100000 defense dragons spawn often in Legendary Seaway ? If yes, do a defense breaker inserted in my attacker team might help me clear it ?

I just cleared mech dragon's massive fortress!

Before I evolve my Hardar though I should probably try and beat it 4 more times to get those awakenings without tamadras.

Everything is ready to go. Yeah, you get lots of dragons. It's a pretty rough dungeon to farm unless you have a solid team. I run a DMeta dark TPA team with poison for the penultimate floor that works really well, but before I put that team together I had some trouble with it.

Congrats on the clearing. Definitely beat last floor 4 more times to pre-awaken Hadar. Plus it gives you some nice XP, fodder, and +eggs during the current x5 rate for technical.

Concerning Legendary Seaway, I'll have to work a bit more to tackle it. The defense breaker I have available is a Baron (any color), 50% defense cut. I'm not even sure I can consistently deal enough damage to one shot dragons though, especially if they're blue. Also, with him on my team, I migth be short on damage for the last floor twin blue dragon.

Sorry double post, can I ask some help ?
I feel like changing my attacker/devil play style to something more dangerous like using DQXQ as a lead for instance. I also just max skilled Da Qiao (the uevo of DQXQ) so now is the good time.
Maybe I can set up a team using all those good yellow/healer/TPA cards I have, for instance :
DQ / Athena (uevo soon) / Awoken Venus (uevo less soon) / Sun Quan / ? / DQ

I have to fill the ? slot. Do I have to put a fourth color, or 3+hearts is reliable enough for this kind of team ? I also fear I might miss some orb change. Can you think of a good sub for that team ? Here is what I have in stock :

- Fuma Kotaro (changes green to light, no 4 colors anymore...)
- Archangel Famiel (changes all to Wood, Light, Dark, Green, no 4 colors...)
- Hatsume (dark to water, might be good but water is not my main color)
- Artemis (also removes hearts...)
- Light Valk (removes hearts...)
- Canopus
- Light Courier Fuu
- and other stuff in my box

Any help will be appreciated.

It is a good idea to branch out and try different play styles once you start getting into a position to do so. DQXQ leader skill is very good practice for a color-coverage-based leader skill; fairly easy to activate, and powerful enough to be quite useful. One thing I will say, though, is that it is important to mentally separate the teams you build for tackling challenging dungeons from the teams you build for farming. Most of the game is farming, and if you try to commit yourself 100% to a team that really makes you work for the leader skill you will get burnt out quickly.

You don't really need orb change with a color-coverage-based lead like DQXQ unless you do something like cover all colors other than your main color purely in sub attributes so you have one really strong main color, but that's a lot harder to do and really restricts your sub choices. More than likely you'll end up with a rainbow team, which is much easier to build and doesn't require a whole lot of orb change because you can make use of any colors that happen to be on the board. You are going to be much better served on a team like this with utility/defensive active skills (atk multipliers/healing/bind clear/damage reduction/etc). Also, to answer your main question, you will absolutely want to color every color on a team like this--you would be severely handicapping yourself to do otherwise. Make sure you have full coverage, even if some colors are just a single sub-attribute. You want to be able to activate as often as possible.
guigui wrote:Can you think of a good sub for that team ?
Focus on full color coverage first. After that, try to design your team around whatever dungeon you're trying to tackle. Is your team going to be bound in the dungeon you're going to run? skill bound? are there going to be hits you're forced to take which will one shot you without reduction?

Try to cover as many of these bases as you can, and then just prioritize stats and awakenings that are going to help your survivability and damage output. It's hard to give you a general answer for subs that are always going to be best because, like I said, this is a team for clearning content that is challenging for you, and not a farming team. Pick the best tools for each job.

I've cleared all of the current challenges except for 9. I'm racking my brain trying to figure out how to clear that one, and I haven't come up with much yet. My Ronia/Hades plan didn't work out because I just couldn't put out the damage I needed on some floors. I've seen a lot of people clearning it with LKali which I might try, but it seems like a stretch, especially since I can't roll a Sun Quan to save my goddamned life.

Re: Puzzle & Dragons

Very nice advices here, thanks Necro.
This indeed is a team to be adapted to each specific dungeon I want to tackle. Next ones are Sandalphon and Hera-Sowilo descends, cards that I need to evolve my Venus.

Also about color coverage, I tried a light/blue team, with sub attributes to cover the other colors :
DQXQ / Blue Odin / Sun Quan / Hatsume / Famiel / DQXQ
This was not good as you said : too hard to trigger the multiplication, and too many orb changers ! I thought that, since DQ erases Fire and Dark, I should not play Fire or Dark cards. But who cares ? Put Echidna in here, go full healer, and enjoy lotta delays.
More to come about this team when Sandalphon and Hera come.

Another note about stoning to continue in a dungeon : I did use 3 stones to get a Beelzebub yesterday, and you were right to say that this is much more satisfying than rolling the REM to get another not needed card.

Now about the desire sensor : during the 2.5x skill up rate and the material skill change, I decided to farm Thursday Mythical to get Green Dragon Fruits for Verdandi's skill up. Figures :
Runs : 26
Reds gotten : 11
Blues gotten : 8
Greens gotten : 7
Verdandi skill up : 0/5 1/2

Yikes ! At least this dungeon sometimes drop Baby TAMADRAS, and I am ready to roll Red Sonia out of the REM ... in 2 years maybe ?

Funny thread, memorable quotes to soothe my soul :

- The trick is to need all 3 fruits
- There is a pattern in here : you always get the fruits you dont need, until you get the fruit you need.

@guigui

Any time you restrict yourself to certain colors, you make it more difficult; but, 3 colors plus hearts is not any more difficult than other quad-color leaders like Kali or Umisachi&Yamasachi. With leaders like these it's a fact of life that you won't always have the colors you need on the board, but you just develop strategies for how to deal with situations like that.

I think for your DQXQ team, you should farm an Izanami. She is one of the best defensive subs in the game; you often see her being used on teams like Kali, DQ/XQ, Anubis, Ra, and so on. She will provide dark and red attributes, 4500+ HP, and an invaluable active skill. The drawback is that DQ/XQ's skill takes away dark and fire orbs, so Izanami won't be able to attack whenever you use that skill, but I think that is okay. You could put her in your original plan of DQ - Athena - Sun Quan - (Awoken) Venus - Izanami - DQ and have all the colors available to you.

I also see that you have a Durga. If you're interested in these types of leaders (DQXQ, etc), you should consider her in the future, when her ultimate evolution arrives. 5x ATK for matching 4 of dark, fire, water, wood, and heart. Her active skill boosts God and Devil damage by 2x, so you're really getting at least 50x on certain turns. You could try something like

D/B Durga
D/D Beelzebub
D/W Goetia (replace with Aamir eventually)
D/F Izanami
D/D Yomi (or anyone since you already have all the colors covered)
D/B Durga

I did not know of the Izanami card, and will be sure to try and get it next time she descends.
Invaluable active skill you say ? 35% damage reduction does not seem to be that much of a reduction, even though it lasts for 3 turns.
In that regards, aren't the elemental better (undine, genie, thanatos etc..., voids opposite color damage for 3 turns) ? I mean, you almost always know which color is going to hit you badly, so you can enter the dungeon with the correct elemental.

My Durga is also ready for when the uevo comes here. It seems that the Beelzebub is a pretty widely used sub and I am glad about it.

For some reason I suddenly can't clear the final mechdragon fortress dungeon anymore. I think part of it may have to do with the fact Necro's hypermaxed ronia isn't up anymore, but it might partially just be me no longer having a real drive to give it my all since I already got hardar himself.

Beelzebub is also a very nice leader to pair with a Sonia friend. That's what I do a lot these days and my team enjoys over 40k HP thanks to him; with more plus eggs I could probably reach 50k. The materials for his ultimate evolution are annoying to get though.

As for Izanami, 35% damage reduction doesn't seem like much, but it's significant enough to make hits that damage for 20,000 - 30,000 survivable or more manageable, especially since many of the teams that she typically fits in don't have much HP. My REM-heavy Kali team, for example, has just under 20,000 HP, meaning that there are many circumstances where it would get wiped out without Izanami's shield. Izanami's shield is also on a 6-turn timer when max-skilled, so it can be used frequently throughout a dungeon, which is great because in many descends and end-game dungeons you'll face strong hits from enemies on multiple floors. Moreover, the shield can save you if you're playing a team with lower reliability (DQ/XQ, Kali, Durga, etc) and you make a mistake or get orb trolled. Plus, Izanami having nearly 5000 HP and 1600 ATK doesn't make it feel like she's dead-weight outside of her active.

No worry, he will become Dragon/Machine/Devil once the game is able to handle 3 types on the same monster. I also wish they had dropped the Dragon type instead of the Devil one meanwhile though.
Keep on farming Mechdragon fortress !

Hmm, that is a really strange choice on GungHo's part. Typically they are very, very careful not to remove monster utility or break synergies which are already established in the game because people spend very real money on the game and that gets into dangerous territory. I have heard that triple typings are coming, so potentially the plan here is have all three types...at least eventually?

Yeah, last time I checked it's a temporary measure until triple-typings are implemented. Other regions of the game will probably be spared from having to go through this.

Looks like we're getting the PAD Academy dungeon and egg machine some time next week. I would do horrible things to pull a Discipline Committee Chair, Athena ... but after watching one guy managing to pull only one after 226 attempts, I'm not going to waste my stones trying.

Hera-Ur-Senpai is the dungeon boss and School Gang Leader, Gigas is an invade. This version of Gigas is actually very good for row-based fire teams.

As for the egg machine, the best pulls are all 7 and 6 stars; extremely rare. The 5 star pulls are the real Hero gods and dark Chester, but I don't know what the chance of pulling one is.

7*
Student Council President, Lucifer
Discipline Committee Chair, Athena
Scholarship Student, Isis

6*
blazing shrine maiden, chiyome
phantom god, odin

5*
Yamato Takeru
Andromeda
Perseus
Sun Wukong
Pandora
Jester Wizard, Chester

4*
amaterasu ohkami
water deity, holy isis
yamato takeru
andromeda

I managed to get two more hardars, but even with +297 ronia I'm having trouble clearing the dungeon consistently: one of the bigger problems is the chimera midboss, who will randomly decide to use a double strike attack that deals more damage than I have health.

Chimera is hard. Be sure to stall as much as possible on floors 1-4 and stock on dark orbs at the bottom of the board. A line should be enough to kill her, no ?
Also, you could level up your Hadar, this guy has ton of health.
Finally, is your vampire skilled up ? If so, he should be active on the chimera and help one shot it. If not, go farm Dungeon of Darkness -> Moon Death Dragon.

By the way, Necro, how went yesterday's Star Vault with your new press-the-glowy-buttons team ?

I saw that Hera-Sowilo descends tomorrow, I need her to awaken Venus.
Seeing that dungeon, I thought it was good for my devil team, until reading that Venus on floor 7 absorbs dark damages for 10 turns. So, no devil.
The DQXQ team we discussed earlier is not ready yet, and now I'm thinking about tackling Legend with a simple read team :
Red Odin / Cao Cao / Laila / Echidna / Freyr / Skuld

Floors 1-6 : should allow me to charge skills.
Floor 7 : delay Venus when starts getting annoying
Floor 8-9 : wipe with orb changers, store some reds for floor 10.
Floor 10 : The combo preemptive skills bind + first turn delay barrier is nasty here ! I'll get you nonetheless. Prey I have enough reds saved from previous floors, or patiently wait and survive ... and hope she drops !

Unfortunately it was running at 7:30 in the morning, which is precisely when I drive to Japanese class on Saturdays. I was only able to run it for roughly 10 minutes of the hour and managed 25 plus eggs from that.
