Lol, don't blame Obama, blame Reagan!

American healthcare has been on a slippery slope of fucked ever since it grew roots in corporate finance, but Reagan kindly lifted all the caps and government moderation on privatised healthcare way back when, leading it to the point it's at today (a horrible nightmare).

EDIT: I don't know why anyone actually blames Obama for anything. Do people really believe politics is a tangible malleable thing anymore? Presidents inherit obligations to support big business, not obligations to support the common man. Hence any good moral intentions they may have when running for office are quickly stamped out when they take office. You shouldn't actually expect voting to make a difference to your life unless you're already part of the super wealthy.

Odd that the symbol for Italian Fascism under Mussolini is present inside US Congress at either side of the speaker.
Maybe it just means something else now, or maybe it doesn't.

This is why I'm voting for Trump if by some miracle he wins the Republican primary.

Trump already IS big business. He's going to plow ahead instead of listening to any shit from another, most likely less successful oligarch.

If Donald Trump was president of the United States it would be catastrophically hilarious. I'd order years worth of popcorn and sit back and watch the country regress into actual serfdom.

That said the man may have the power to push people to revolution - genuine revolution with guns and killing - and that would be a silver lining if ever there was one.

The best quote I've ever heard about Trump:
Some people are born on third base, but act like they hit a triple.
I want a president with enough self-confidence to just go bald instead of taking hours out of every day to apply the metric tons of styling products that must go into that orange bird's nest of a comb-over. I can totally imagine his latest Russian mail-order-bride making one arch remark about his hair insecurities and next thing you know he's launching nukes left and right. I wonder if he looks like an aging hippie after he showers all the product out of his hair?
Two working class dudes, one black one white, just baked a tray of ten cookies together.

An oligarch walks in and grabs nine cookies for himself.

Then he says to the white dude "Watch out for that black dude, he wants a piece of your cookie!"

Most of the people with the guns would be, perhaps inevitably, in Trump's camp, so any armed uprising under him (mind you, I refuse to consider him anything resembling a serious candidate, though I suppose the same goes for most, perhaps all, of the current GOP field) would simply be an effort to kill the rest of us off.

Though I am pretty salty that everything "fixed" with the healthcare reform has been at my expense, meanwhile I have a huge list of stuff that nobody seems to care about.

Example: I have a family member that's bipolar. The insurance company won't pay for the dosage of a med that's been prescribed and proven to work for them. Instead, they pay for a larger pill and we have to try slicing like 20% of this tiny pill off with a razor blade. Two things with this: 1) There's no way to get a consistent dosage when doing this and 2) Great idea, making sure your psych patients have a sizable supply or razor blades on hand!

Of course we're welcome to pay for the med itself, but it's like $900/month.. Haven't looked, but it's prob $50/month in Canada..

In some cases when the customer was intent on buying what they want, and not falling for the up-sell, he'd go to get them their laptop or w/e from storage only to be ordered by the manager to go back out and lie: "sorry, we're out of stock."
Apparently it got to the point where he'd go and hide in the back room if someone he knew entered the store.
I remember when my Office Max left a door open right behind the front counter with a sign that read something like every customer needs to buy $50 of stuff. Then a bunch of small writing I suppose explaining why or how to do it.

So I found out why my computer was mailed from 3 time zones away. Because I ordered the 16 GB RAM and not the 12 GB RAM in the store. I went online and sure enough there are 2 computers with the same price, specs and models except for the RAM. The 16 GB RAM version had $50 knocked off the price. So it all makes sense.

The government selling healthcare is a commission thing. Gotta balance the budget somehow. A few states have dirt cheap health insurance long before Obamacare.

I want Trump as President, so I can see him take the blame for everything like every President does when he's just the face. Congress has the real power. President just takes the blame.

Still shit that they didn't tell you that in-store and explain the situation, but at least you figured it out. Did the guy have a nametag of "Jon Snow" on him anywhere? :P

Forget about the two-party false dichotomy for a minute. You think that gun enthusiasts would line up behind Trump if the shit hit the fan? I think you are wrong.

Check out this article I saw posted on oathkeepers.org (an organization in which, I'd bet almost everybody owns a gun) http://www.washingtonsblog.com/2015/06/ ... more-47590

It contains a couple jabs at welfare and illegal immigration which may be offensive to Democrats. But it doesn't sound like reading material for Trump fans??

I was (mostly) snarking back there, but Trump certainly does embody the boorish, conspiratorial, nativist, screw-you-I-do-what-I-want mindset of the "they're all after me Lucky Charms" gun-obsessive crowd better than any other current candidate, and this election cycle that's saying something.

Almost losing an eye to wasps is fun

Happily enough, I took an antihistamine just minutes before it happened.

re: Trump, he's made his name in Chicago, which is pretty famously anti-gun (at least in its establishment). I don't know where that puts him exactly, but there's the association at least.

re: That WaPo blog post, he seems to be right on the money except for Keynes, overlooking that (for example) public sector spending suffers under austerity measures, which we have been following to an extent, behind the Greeks. Calling Keynesian economists cheerleaders for bailouts is pretty misleading, too. Having business is still important; having a sensible economic model is still important. Out of all the models, Keynes' offers the most tools; following it allows a government to be simultaneously socialist and business-friendly. We just haven't had anybody in government seriously following that plan.

On top of that, the shark analogy shows up one of the hairy things about life in general. Not just in systems deemed "an economy," but in living systems in general, there has to be more input into the system than comes out of it, or else there can't be any growth or evolution - in a literal sense.

I have said before that I think that traditional economic development might slow down within our lifetimes, at which point a lot of these problems will return with a vengeance. I'm not sure what's a worse set of problems to have - it will likely be the case that slowing development at "the top" will lead to a necessary refocus to development everywhere else, though it will be bumpy getting that done.

Edit: Another example of real Keynes in action here: http://krugman.blogs.nytimes.com/2013/0 ... ens-again/
And again, Keynesians & Greece: http://krugman.blogs.nytimes.com/2015/0 ... pocalypse/

Always good to remember that Larry Summers isn't really a Keynesian.

Wasps are some mean nasty fuckers. :[ My old man stepped on one in the mid-1980s and almost died on me and my mom, but in the end he just ended up getting McDonald's for a week in hospital.

The wasps fought bravely, but in the end they all got chemical weapon'd into oblivion.

Antihistamines again today. The swelling all happened while I was asleep. Shouldn't swell much more.

A bit below my eye. I think the wasp was aiming to hit my eye, but thankfully didn't get there. It didn't hurt much and actually I didn't feel anything late in the day, but apparently there was still some venom.

Products that are unnecessarily geared towards a particular gender.

I saw an ad for a compact wallet that holds more space, and every single customer testimony was a woman. Wtf, like guys don't have full wallets? Other products are guilty of this as well, but that's the most recent case that comes to mind.
