Vertical PC-Engine/Turbografx/Duo SHMUPs

Post by Malick »

Hey all, I recently bought a Turbo Duo with a bunch of games but it seems that most of the SHMUPs are Hori's.

Are there any real stand out Vert games for the system? If so what are they.

Thanks :D

There are plenty of standout verts on the system. Some standouts include Super Star Soldier, Soldier Blade, and Blazing Lazers.

I think Spriggan and Kyukyoku Tiger are rad. Kyukyoku tiger can be had for cheap and it is freakn' awsome. It's basically Raiden zero...

Raiden is on system too and is one of the better ports of the game.

- Ginga Fukei Densetsu Sapphire (Arcade CD-Rom)
- Nexzr/Nexzr Special (Super CD-Rom)
- Spriggan (CD-Rom)
- Star Parodier (Super CD-Rom)
- Sylphia (Super CD-Rom)

Yeah. The Hu-Card version of Raiden is fantastic. I had a chance to play it a few years ago and I swore that it was the PSX version. "Hey! How did you hook up a Nec gamepad to a Playstation?"

agreed
really too bad that they took out 2player mode or it woul be almost(music) arcade-perfect.

werid isn't it: The horrible SNES version has 2 player mode...argh.

on-topic:
Cyber Core: fantastic vertical shmup with strange insects-theme.HIGHLY recommended.
1943: arcade port.good for 2player action
Image Fight: toughy

Why do you rate Burning Angels and Final Blaster so low? Those games are quite good. Most certainly better than Toilet Kids or Toyshop Boys. :?
