Hello I'm a new user. I've been googleing but haven't been able to figure this out.
I have a bvm-d24e1w hooked up throw a Extron 203 for RGBs by way of my laptops external analog VGA. Everything works great up tp 1366x768p... but I can't get 1080i/48 to work.
The manual specifically states is does 1080i/48, and I'm sure it does. How to do it is the question?
The 1080i format is not listed in the normal resolutions in the control panel so using the NVidia control panel I went to create a custom 1920x1080i48 resolution.
Some setting are obnvious.
Horizontal pixels: 1920
Vertical pixels: 1080
Refresh Rate: 48
Scan Type: Interlaced
But that does work, it seems I need to figure out some custom timings.
Nothing I have tried has worked yet. It wants to know... for both Horizontal and Vertical, the follwing ingo
active pixels
Front porch (pixels)
synch width (pixels)
total pixels
polarity (both h and v)
I've had zero luck so far and I can't figure out a google search to find this info or a linux modline I might turn into this info.
Can anyone help?

How does the BVM manual label regular 1080i? 1080i30 or 1080i60.?

It should take whatever the manual states - it should be able to accept 1080/48I (as listed in the manual) in YPbPr/GBR analog signals with the BKM-48X, BKM-41HD, BKM-42HD. The 41 and 42 are HD-SDI boards but they do have analog support. However, these will be component only, not RGBs. Likewise, I'm kind of confused by the mention of RGBs here - RGBs should be 480i and 576i only. "RGB" with three wires would just be YPbPr.
@ Ben: Heck of a question. I assumed that Sony used 1080i60 everywhere, but their UK site does list framerates (for the F24) as 1080/24P but, confusingly, also as 1080/60I. My D series manual agrees with this. The EBU standard format supposedly would be 1080i/30. In short, it looks as if Sony uses the field rate for interlaced material, and frame rate for progressive.

Google for 1080PsF or 1080p24sf (progressive segmented frames). It's a format used about 10-12 years ago. Something like the 1080p24 predecessor. The D24 will probably accept the same signal as the early Qualia projectors. You should be able to find proper timing specs.
I don't really know though what you want to use it for. Want to watch movies on a 24" screen ? While it will handle motion well on your BVM, 48Hz won't look too hot.

That's why I asked about the terminology. Because in Windows 1080i48 would actually be 96hz, just interlaced. I've tried that on my PC monitor and it doesn't look half bad.

Well looking at the operation manual it says it supports...
1080/48i
1080/50i
1080/60i
along with a bunch of other progessive modes, which I've had no issue with.
This morning, for fun, I tried setting the nvidia custom resolution to 1920x1080 24/interlaced (instead of 48) with aotumatic timing and that didn't work either.

My unit does have the HD SDI RGB(+syng) BNC board. Seems to work fine with RGB modified retro console too.

Yeah, 48 interlaced fields would probably be unbearably flickery.
But another program you can try, instead of Nvidia's, would be the Custom Resolution Utility. I've heard of people having success with it when Nvidia wouldn't work.

That software did not indicate anyway to specify an intelaced format.BazookaBen wrote:Yeah, 48 interlaced fields would probably be unbearably flickery.

Create a detailed resolution and it will be in the bottom right.jamesm801 wrote:That software did not indicate anyway to specify an intelaced format.
