It is a real shame to hear of Christopher Lee's passing. I heard on German news this afternoon. Not a bad age at all and a proper gent.

Every time I think of Hammer I think of him. His legacy will live on.

I was already bummed to read about Christopher Lee's passing; and then came the news of Dusty Rhodes...

The American Dream Dusty Rhodes, a guy I grew up watching, he had some of the most passionate promos. Look up Hard Times, probably his best promo.

Five in one day, is this some kind of dead pool record?

Ron Moody - played Fagin in Oliver, among many other roles.
Robert Chartoff - producer of the Rocky series and Raging Bull.

One for the Swedes: Comedian and TV profile Magnus Härenstam, who among other things was the Swedish host of Jeopardy for quite some time and also very well known as one of the three hosts of what's probably Sweden's most well known TV program for children, Fem Myror är fler än Fyra Elefanter, passed away at 73 years of age.

This was the week of death, or something.

The amount of celebrities was quite high. But we had some local deaths, that made everything seem even more bleak. One young man was struck by lightning (!), and another guy I knew, drank himself to death.

It's weird when you have someone die by kind of outrageous circumstances...because the first thing I wanted to say was "he should have gotten a lottery ticket". But then you see all his friends and family in tears about it, and you feel like a dick. And he was only like 18 or something.

Sir Nicholas Winton, who saved 669 Jewish children from murder by the nazis in WWII, passed away at 106.

Here's a beautiful clip of him being surprised by dozens of the children he saved.

"Winton kept quiet about his humanitarian exploits for many years, until his wife Grete found a detailed scrapbook in their attic in 1988.[27] It contained lists of the children, including their parents' names and the names and addresses of the families that took them in. By sending letters to these addresses, 80 of "Winton's children" were found in Britain"

That came sadly and suddenly. RIP to the man who developed some real quality entertainment and oversaw probably the second-best or best Nintendo handheld ever.

Total bummer. I never got into the Wii or the later generations Nintendo games like the ones that ruled my youth, but he definitely gave the company a much needed shot in the arm. A little frightening to hear about such a young death.

Ahh okay thanks, I haven't followed console or handheld stuff for a while now just focus on older retro stuff so I had no idea he was ever even sick. Still, sad.

Patrick Macnee died last month - shit. He was 93 so that's pretty good going. I loved The Avengers when I was growing up, and he was pretty good in the original Battlestar Galactica.

Damn. Iwata really caught me off guard this morning when I saw the news. I remember reading he was having health issues that prevented him attending E3 this year, but this was the last thing I expected.

Thank you for all your amazing contributions, sir.

Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

I see what you're saying, but I think he was suggesting stress caused by the Wii U's performance could have be a contributing factor in hindering Iwata's recovery.

Could have worded it better, agreed, but I don't think it was shitting in the console.

Ambient musician Susumu Yokota has died at the young age of 54. His actual passing was in March, but his family just released the news.

This one hurts... if you're not familiar, check out his album Sakura. It's all over Youtube. I just played it for someone like a week ago.
