I got it tonight! Looking at it now. I will do an unboxing video of it. It does say that glue is required, FYI.

Thanks for the detailed video unboxing! Would I be able to find comparable paints in the US?

It depends on where you live. So I am from the Phoenix area, and there was one hobby shop in the area that stocked Mr. Color paints. Since you are in the Bay area, You may try Newtype Hobby and Toys. I've never been there, but in high school I used to get their mail order catalogs. They stock tons of Japanese model kits and garage kits, so I bet they'd either stock those paints or know where to get them.

Unless you have an airbrush, I wouldn't recommend going with Mr. Color lacquers. They dry quickly, so they are difficult to hand-paint.

Just got mine assembled.

Didn't really do anything fancy with mine, just a straight snap-together build without the landing gears, but I still like how it turned out :D

Airbrush as well as paints? Sounds fun, but more work/time than I was expecting. :(

Can you post a pic? I'd like to see what it looks like without paint, etc.

Camera flash kinda flushed out some of the detail (especially on the white sections) but should give you an idea

Just threw on some black paint on the panel lines and some white on the window and then the kit is ok.
Great kit overall, very good fit and fun to build.

So it just snaps together, huh? I wonder why the instruction manual says it needs glue.

The parts fit together pretty cleanly? There's no gaps? Let me know. It would be easier to paint the pieces separately and then assemble, instead of having to assemble first and then mask. Thanks.

It needs glue.

Parts fit really good.
Just follow the pics in the manual and you should be fine.

Just a heads up, HobbySearch currently has the DoDonPachi DaiOuJou Type-A in their bargain sale for about $30, cheapest I've seen it yet.

Is this just a temporary sale, or is the kit not doing so well (thus the discounted price)? If it's not selling well, then we'd not likely see a Type B kit...
