SCART question

Post by atheistgod1999 »

So recently, I got a Genesis 1 (HD graphics without TMSS :D), and I want to use a SCART cable for it. Is there a difference between PAL cables and NTSC cables? Thanks!

Not really. The DIN pinout is identical on all Mega Drive V1. However make sure to get either a cable with Euro SCART or JP21 depending on what your setup can handle. What kind of monitor or VP are you using?

I'm using an NTSC Genesis on a BVM-20F1U.

If your SCART->BNC adapter has Euro SCART basically get one of those. I doubt you're using JP21 but I may be wrong and if so then get a cable with JP21 instead. That's pretty much it. The DIN out only has mono sound however so in order to get stereo you have to use the 3.5mm jack on the front of the console.

Also, the first Genesis/Mega Drive has composite video as sync so a sync stripper is needed for use on your BVM unless the console is modified.

BVM's work fine with composite video as sync.
