Hi,
I have a Sony PVM-20L4 CRT , and It has a weird problem I wonder if any of you guys might be able to shed some light on for me?
Setup:
MegaDrive 2 -> SCART -> Sync Strike -> 4 BNC -> Line A in on the PVM
Issue/Symptoms
I get a perfectly stable picture from the MD2, but as soon as the game seems to request some kind of
Resolution change, (or maybe a blank screen for a second), the Monitor shuts down (powers itself off)
But it doesn't happen to all games, so for instance, Revenge of Shinobi I've played for an hour with
not a single wobble, but as soon as I try to run Streets of Rage, or Monaco GP, or Columns, I get
the shut down almost immediately.
Once it shuts down, it wont come back on straight away either, even if I disconnect the video.
I can either leave it a few minutes and I can power it back on, or If I pull the power out and reconnect
it lets me power it back up again.
My Guess whats happening:
The video signal that is changing, is pushing some tolerance out of range, and the monitor is doing a protective
shutdown, even though in theory the inputs arent as far as I know shouldn't go out of any valid signal ranges
What I hope:
Its a problem with my setup, or a setting that can be changed via the OSD/service menu
What I dread:
Its a damaged board/chip, that needs replacing by an engineer
Have also tried, nothing makes any difference:
MD2 -> SyncStrike -> Extron RXi 203 -> BNC Cable -> PVM
MD2 -> RGB SCART-> (no sync stripper) BNC Cable -> PVM
MS2 -> RGB SCART-> BNC Cable that has a build in SyncStripper
Same setup configs, but with a Dreamcast (with RGB Scart) instead of the MegaDrive as the source
Dreamcast shows all the screens in the BIOS fine, but as soon as I try to boot any game, it shuts down.
Any ideas/help/things to try would be gratefully appreciated!
