Here's the video of my recent Gunbird 2-ALL.

Not a great run by any means, but it could be interesting to someone wanting to play the game.
I've also added some annotations. Enjoy. :o

Human Difficulty all clear of Keio Yuugekitai with all cinemas left in (and load times edited out).

This game has quite a bit of memorizer going on... quite a few cheap shots and blindsides (particularly in stage 7).

I suppose using the left hand for movement and right for fire controls mimics the typical arcade stick layout more closely than vice versa, but it's not like that matters much if you're not planning on switching to an arcade stick or gamepad.
Maybe for the same reason that i have: after more than decade of WASD playing my hands only work like this - left fingers for movements, right for actions. Really, because dynamics of movements, pressure, frequency of motion etc. differs for both. Also doesn't help that i also play guitar which separates hands' role too.

So i'm freaking hate when i must play "z,x,c + arrows" , i'd better connect my gamepad instead*

*and why i prefer keyboard over gamepad in many games? Because like on arcade stick (or Hitbox if we speak about completely BUTTON control) you have each finger dedicated to it's button instead of using thumb for 4 keys; also i'm getting tired must faster and can't play long on gamepad because how handling is happens, yet on keyboard i hammer down (guitar slang term) faster and comfortable. But that's more a matter of habit, i think.

Just finished annotating my Battle Bakraid counterstop. Go check it out if you want to learn something about Bakraid, or if you just like watching stuff get counterstopped.

Really nice replays Jaimers! I also think your strategy against the stage 5 boss is extremely clever and useful.

Finally - a first ever in Youtube full run (from area Alpha to area Infinity) of Star Force NES. While Famicom version is easy NES one is a real candidate to be the hardest NES shmup ever.
Even if you don't prefer endless shmups american version contains ending screen unlike japanese one!

Super Star Force (advertised in the ending) never made it out of japan, it was a famicom exclusive, hilariously a russian translation of this one exists but not an english one which is bizarre. It is an interesting game, however beating it without a guide is very very hard, but not impossible. Final Star Force was an arcade-only title and it is a good one, Eight Forces is eh.

Thanks man, yeah, the game is still tremendously fun and captivating to me (even on the bad runs!) that I'm still enjoying getting better and just playing it!

Although I must say, I'm starting to think about working on a different game... :D

Hell of a way to end that run - if the outcome weren't in the title, I'd have been thinking "man, that's a shame" until the explosion came. Congrats on the clear!

LOL, you're totally spot on, that run was either going onto youtube or into the recycle bin at that point! :D And I was really having a bit of deja-vu at the very end there, no doubt!

The worst parts of finishing that run were the initial couple of restarts on 2-5: I knew that the first life going into the stage wasn't going to amount to anything and was calculated into my strategy (I give myself 2 deaths with Kraken), so that had me a bit worried right off the bat that I couldn't finish the game with the amount of resources that I needed. And that's happened too many times. But the death when I had 3 lives left was truly the biggest waste, as I had two bombs in the clip and probably could have ended it with a much higher score. Bad judgement call not bombing on my end, but I got away with it, barely!

Very impressive, the second loop is a real nail biter. No pun intended.

Also, Nail's portraits are hella cute.

Wow, congrats! Progear second loop is insane. The tension in 2-5 was crazy just watching it.

Thanks everyone! Hoping to start adding annotations this week, although I know it's going to take some time, just to give a bit of strategy and explanation to what's going on or why I approach a situation a certain way. Should be cool!

Greater but not long-lasting.
I didn't even knew these bullets could have gaps wide enough between them.

This game was so damn hard to clear without using a bomb because your stage end level multiplier bouns kinda depended on you trying to avoid using bombs. Glad to find this replay gem

You have to use very aggressive point-blank shooting skills when your reach this that level of game difficulty, the enemy targets and bullet-hell are brutal.

I got some gear that allows me to capture AV off of JAMMA so I thought I'd record some God Mode off of my Black Label (Another ver.) PCB to test it out. The run was pretty garbage tbh... Would have probably gotten another 0.5bil if I hadn't made so many crappy mistakes...

Futari BL (Another ver.) (PCB) - God Mode - 4.5bil

I noticed that the video stutters a bit on YT on sections with a lot of fast movements (the source file runs perfectly fine on my laptop though...). I might try and re-record my future JAMMA captures in 720p next time instead of directly uploading the 480p source files. Not sure if that will fix it though.
