Making Commodore 1084 Adapters for SCART Cables
Hey, I've a question out of curiosity. As I just acquired three Commodore 1084 monitors (two Philps units, one Daewoo unit), how exactly would I wire up adapters for SCART cables bought by Retro_Access/Retro_Console_Accessories? I might have already asked this question in another thread, but I need as much information on this as I can get. Stuff like what to do with the +5V line if I don't need an LM1881, how to wire up sync for the DIN-6 plug to go into the 1084P monitors, etc. In the event that these monitors may be used for events, I'd like to make sure I don't do something wrong that risks damaging them. Plus, this will also help me for when i finally acquire a supergun with SCART output.

I've read your op twice and still unsure what exactly you need to do. If you bought the scart cable for the monitor you wont need to do anything. Just plug in your scart av input device and you're ready to go. Iirc those monitors accept both composite video and sync. My amiga outputs composite sync and I've plugged a composite video rgb nes in it before. You shouldn't need a sync stripper. I could be wrong though as I only tried it on 1084s-d and the CM883311 philips. They made these monitors in so many different variants without changing the model number. It was like they logo'd it from spare parts.

Re: Making Commodore 1084 Adapters for SCART Cables
I see where your confusion comes from. I don't live in a PAL region, you see. So the Commodore monitors I have lack a SCART socket. My 1084P units have the 8-pin TTL and 6-pin linear RGB inputs, while my 1084D has just a DE-9 receptacle. I am about to order the parts needed to build the adapters, but the DIN6 sockets confuse me the most (only separate sync lines, unsure if HSYNC does double duty like the NEC I have for streaming).
Another concern I have is in regards to the voltage pin. What to do about those pins in sockets that do not accept +5V?

H-sync in theory should act as composite sync. Not sure why there is a vertical sync line on the 6 pin din. With the +5v line, you won't need to wire it to the monitor although the scart input from your device will still have it by default so if you need sync stripping, the option will still be there.
Most scart tv's use the +5v and +12v to automatically switch. Just leave it un-wired. If you need to install sync stripper you still can as +5v will still be available, just not hooked to the Commodore monitors.
I'm not entirely sure why there are separate H + V for analogue 6 pin to be honest. You should only need H-Sync.
With regards to the 9pin d-sub on the 1084D pin 7 should be composite sync.

Re: Making Commodore 1084 Adapters for SCART Cables
The North American models of the 1084P have separate sync lines for connecting other computers with analog RGB. My STE uses it, my A1200 can use separate sync, and my Tandy COlor Computer 3 as examples of systems that either can also use separate sync, or work better with it. Just the pinouts for the DIN6 never mention csync in the slightest.

It should accept Csync on the Horizontal line. You may need a sync stripper after all.

Only console so far that willl meed it guranteed is my PS1. I can build it into them all, as it shouldn't interfere with cables wired for pure csync like my SNES and Saturn.
