In terms of the Grand Scene big screen, over 300 Goths can fit into the seating.
The Festival itself was a huge building yet the Goth turnout was even bigger. They had to queue up outside and be let in only once some had left. It was quite far beyond the building's capacity on Saturday.
To give it a number, they were talking about 11k visitors at the ending ceremony. At least 5k of them were Batrider fans.

It was huge.
Looks like they are going to need a potentially bigger venue for Stunfest 2016.

Yes, it grew huge this year and they are indeed planning to host it at a larger venue next year. But this will be away from Rennes Town Centre, so it'll be a pain for daily travel and Manpuku fine pork dining. :?
Add this to the fact that the STUFNEST Fighting Game management got jealous of the Shmup Grand Scene Demos sending the CEX blue-haired Goths wild last year, relegating us to a small room on the 2nd floor this year with virtually no X360s to mess about on  .

:D TradGoth or Cyber would be my first question.

I really wish that I could have attended Stunfest but I was with 15-20K+ Goths in Leipzig of my own :D

Let's hope that they keep the Shmup Cabs for the next one and keep the interest alive.

Cheers,

Minty.

They'll keep the cabs for sure, but will they relegate us to some dark gothic corner again...?

Anyway, I have Days 1,2, and 3 photo albums of the Stunfest Venue and STG Cohorts represented.

Most of my photographs are candid and I gave general titles and named people in them as well.
Should give ya'll a good taste of how rad Stunfest was.
Apologies to anyone whose visage may be ill represented, it's 2015 after all, deal with it! YOU HAVE BEEN STUF'D!
** I'd also like to add that these albums are in Hidden mode, so only those with the links here can see them.

As is with the past two Stunfests, I'm the last one to arrive home. It has been quite the weekend of laughs, fun and games, but not without one or two downsides. However, they're minor gripes, and overall it's been a resounding success. I'll post something a little more substantial tomorrow once I've had some much-needed sleep.

EDIT:- Seeing as Mister Icarus has done a post mortem below, I'll do a quick one:

Highlights:
Ratikal telling me that he can't handle too much alcohol and then downing half a litre of 6.5% Leffe in a few seconds! HeHe! Doubling the effect. Then INSTADRUNK he asks BIG CHI for vapor trail cigs.
CHI rushing out every ten minutes to furiously text his new BANG KOK Lady.....
Me seeing LARD as the Daily Special on the chalkboard Menu at the restaurant. I kid you not!
Everyone else except me going full pork for dinner.
Watching Panther Plasmo play the cabs for hours wearing his Pork Mask and round tinted shades, looking exactly like an Evil Pork Boss.
Watching Mister Icarus push Pink Sweets THE MANLY WAY, to rank hell at the end of ST6 with a letter SCOAR!
Watching that guy from Minnesota play Advance Batrider Teams right down to the 1 life wire, never playing it safe. Awesome stuff.
Watching all the Demo runs by Erppo, Ratikal, Y'om, Jaimers and BOS acting the BOSS on Dragon Blaze.
Saturday evening was the best for me. Downing half a litre of Lincorne Black beer followed by some Bordeaux wines & calzone pizza followed by a new western record Harahara 1st credit keeping everyone up until 3.15am
ptoing was ON FORM. Constantly entertaining.
Respect to everyone who made it. christcat, HUmar, nuskool, T4N3 (would have liked to see his Metal Black run).

Downsides: Same as Mister Icarus below. Didn't like being relegated to the small room with virtually no X360s to occupy our time.

----------
So a lot more upsides than down.

Well, another year, another Stunfest, and this one was just as much fun as the last two I've attended. It's been a pleasure meeting up with old friends, and making new ones, and that has always been the reason why I've travelled to so many meetups the past decade and a bit. Getting to see the Western STG players strut their stuff was a big highlight this year, and I've said on many occasions over the weekend that, unlike when Japanese superplayers come over, having a player who could be a local up on stage gives the crowd a better feeling that these games can actually be tackled by the average joe, and it was pretty fun seeing guys invade the shooting game scene after the big stage runs.

As usual, there was a lot going on outside of the two stages, including a Touhou area, the huge fighting game tournament section, Team SuperPlayLive doing their speedruns, a night club, and all sorts of other stuff going on around the venue. I took in some of the other things going on, but mainly hung out with the guys, chatting, watching people play, and just enjoying the atmosphere.

It was a great pleasure to finally meet the guys that I speak to on the forum and on Twitch: Aquas, Ratikal, Erppo, Jaimers, Softdrink, T4N3 - you guys are awesome, and I hope we can meet again for more meets very soon.
CHI, DEL, Plasmo, ptoing, nuskool, Prometheus, Y'om, HUmar - always a pleasure hanging out with you guys, and having a laugh and a (lot of) joke(s). I always look forward to catching up with you all, and hopefully we can do it again next year.
Thanks to the French STG crowd, and also non-STG players (Qlex!) for stopping by for a chat with me. Always happy to talk to you guys. :>

Highlights:
- Meeting up with everyone on Thursday afternoon for a pre-event drink and a chat.
- Ratikal asking me if it's possible to get addicted to smoking from just one cigarette.
- Ratikal getting wasted on one pint of beer. (Granted, it was 11% ABV…)
- Teaching Plasmo and Ratikal how to play Pink Sweets high-rank style. Also finding out from playtesting the board that there's way more slowdown on the PCB, making high-rank routes totally viable.
- Doubling S.L's score on his Pink Sweets PCB.
- Almost clearing Garegga (D.2 to Glow Squid) on my third attempt, on a board that doesn't have the rank reset patches.
- Watching Aquas dominate Batrider and Guwange on stage.
- All the Western players rocking it over the weekend on stage.
- "Border DEL". You know that t-shirt has to happen next year.
- christcat putting his hat on DEL to keep him warm as a joke on Saturday evening, then nuskool turning around and saying "he looks like the Man From DEL Monte", and sending me and CHI in to fits of laughter.
- "Table for 26 please" on Thursday.
- 18-20 of us invading the same fancy restaurant "La Taverne" on Sunday for a nice long chat and a good meal.
- Plasmo in social smoking shocker.
- CHI catching Aquas with a cigarette in his hand, and everyone turning around to stare at him, making him very self-conscious.
- Ratikal unsure of how to hold a beer goblet.
- Jaimers being the civilised one with a glass of Riesling while the rest of us are beering it up.
- DEL keeping everyone up until 3.30am on Saturday with his "testing it out" credit of MMP! 1.00 Harahara that nearly cleared the game. :O
- MEOWMEOWMEOWMEOWMEOWMEOW
- A great chat with Plasmo, ptoing, Ratikal and Jaimers about games and other things over Sunday evening's dinner.
- "DEL. Just play 1.00. Seriously. *rolleyes*"
- CHI and I hanging out with Alfarabi in Paris on Monday, heading to Alfarabi's friend's private arcade with two (!) DariusBurst ACEX cabs, one switched on with freeplay (!!), and then to Arcade Street for even more DBACEX.
- Appearing on STGWeekly with Plasmo to help Softdrink commentate on Batrider and Eschatos. It was a great honour to be back on there, and hopefully my commentary was decent. :3 (I'm aware I sound very quiet on stream…)
- CHI, the International Man of Mystery, constantly rushing out to call an International Man (?) of Mystery in Bangkok.

Way more highlights that I am still recalling from the weekend. So exhausted.

Disappoinments:
- I do agree with DEL and CHI that it felt we were shoved into a small room out of the way of everything else. While it was generally quieter, the amount of stuff we had available to play was far less than last year, and the selection on the cabs themselves was really limited - the majority of it was Cave, the hori selection was lacking (AK, Blazing Star, Last Resort), and there was very little variety. There were hardly any consoles for us to play on, so a lot of us were standing around doing nothing besides chatting and watching.
- Organisation on the small stage could have been better - I attempted to help Aquas get set up for Batrider, and while we found the emulator and ROMs pretty quickly, there was audio-based technical issues that caused a schedule overrun of nearly 90mins, which was really bad. In the end, he played the game with no speaker sound, and with this really loud D&B club blasting its music next door.
- There was no need to run the Ikaruga TAS at 1/3 speed, which itself messed with the Sunday schedule, and as a result, T4N3 couldn't do Metal Black, which would have been a great end to the show.
- It was difficult getting the games in the cabs rotated into a decent selection - for me, I would have been happy with either PS, Batrider, Garegga or Cyvern, but they always seem to be instantly removed in favour of some Cave game, and out of the seven cabs, five of them had Cave in it. Not a good selection.

They're just minor gripes though. The whole event itself was amazingly fun, and as usual, I'm glad to have made the trip down to be a part of it.

I posted a bunch of stuff on Vine and Twitter.

Don't get too excited Icarus, those score aren't mine but the ex-owner of the PCB. I simply have never ever played Pink Sweets in my life

Pink Sweets is without any doubt, my least favorite Cave game

Aquas, great pics! Thanks for sharing em :)

Icarus, nice hearing about your highlights. Sounds like there is a lot of camaraderie among STG players. Great pic of Aquas at the end there!

This is not knowing me very well man.

I do play ALL my PCB to death, I guess some scores here can speak by themself. I'm not a collector just for decoration purpose. It happen that yes I do own all Cave PCB, and it also happen that I spend a long time on only one game at a time in order to master it as much as I can. So yeah, I didn't have time to play Pink Sweets yet, considering that 1: it's not my favorite, 2: the reasons I explained earlier.

So i know what you mean, but I'm not one of them

Icarus, I'll pass the 250 euros offer
Hopefully next year you will present a solid Crimzon Clover run and I'll be the commentator

Whenever I've helped organise a big meet, my main goal is to get everyone together to break the ice and so everyone can feel comfortable around each other. The first-timers here were visibly nervous on the first day pre-event, but as the weekend went on, I could see that they had relaxed around the group and were having lots of fun. And that's all there is to it, really. If people are going to travel all this way, then make them feel comfortable, and have fun. :3

Funnily enough, I don't usually want or aim to organise everyone, but if it helps people get settled in and reduces the workload for others (like the event organisers), then that's fine with me.

Oh, by the way, DEL:

The idea is to get someone (Lordstar perhaps) to print a bunch of them off for Stunfest next year.
I'm thinking of making a series of game logos edited with associated player names, though, just for chuckles.

I don't mind watching in French, but could learn more from eng commentary.
