For quite some time I had an Extron DVS304 scaler in storage. I gave it a try once with 15khz and 31khz sources and it's nothing worth talking about. Mediocre 15khz processing, solid 31khz processing. So, I recently talked to somebody who needed an upscaler for his Model 2 Sega Rally board. He tried a Faroudja based unit, without any luck of course (since these only accept 15khz sources). So I sent him the Extron and the results seem to be quite nice.

The older Extron DVS units (with just analogue output) can be found quite cheap and they seem to be a solid alternative to the Framemeister or the XPC-4 if all you need is a processor to get your Model 2 and Model 3 boards running on a 31khz display.

Innumerous thanks for this info. This would make for a proper comparison between Gradius IV arcde vs the PS2 version.

Anyone ever try this with a Gradius IV board? I have been looking forever for a XVGA-1 Pro, but this Extron box seems much more accessible.

Its upscaling to what resolution? The link doesnt work for me. What additional lag, if any, does it add?

Pretty much all the Extrons accept 24khz/384p inputs, so I would go for an Extron RGB-HDMI 300A or a DSC 301 these days.
Combined with an OSSC you can do 384p to 768p and then futher upscale the OSSC's output.
